Alright, so I'm trying to pick out a new stick and I've narrowed it down to a Vapor, but I'm not sure which one to get. First question is, I don't know what flex to get. I'm 6' 4", 195 lbs, athletic build. Should I get an 87 flex or a 102 flex? I also have to add a 3-4 inch extension to make it the right length for me so that will lower the flex a bit. If 102, then that narrows it down to the X700, but if I should get an 87 flex, then what would be a better choice for the money? I can get the X600 for $54, the X700 for $99, or the older X80 for $70.

A little bit about me: I've been playing since January, so I'm just starting to figure out what I like in a stick. Right now I switch between a Bauer Nexus 600 and a Hespeler Nemesis. I like the puck feel of the Nexus, but it's only a 77 flex so it's a bit too whippy for me. I like the flex of the Nemesis (95), but I don't like the puck feel. If I get these questions answered, then I only have to figure out what curve to get. Right now I use a P92, but I'm thinking of switching to a P14 or P88. Thanks in advance!

Edit: Any reasoning behind the votes would be super helpful.

The X600 is junk. You won't be happy with it, especially after using the Nexus. Go with the X700. Do you like the kick point of the Nexus? The Nexus and Vapor have completely different KP's.

Eh, the kickpoint is a little high for me. I wanted a lower one just because I really only take wrist and snap shots.

The x80 is a very good mid-level stick, so go with that and save a few bucks while you're experimenting. A low kick will play a bit stiffer than a mid, but not substantially. Based on your comment that you like the 95 flex, I'd suggest the 102, which will be more like 85 with a 3" plug. Also, I'd say go with the P88 as it is the best jack-of-all-trades curve. Won't limit any part of your game while you're learning, and won't give you bad habits. Beginners with toe curves often develop terrible technique for anything other than a toe loaded shot.

Check out the warrior sticks they're actually built 3" longer than bauer, you may not need an extension plug with one of those.

QR4 is a pretty good value, or you can find DT1 and DT3 for around 80-90 on closeout, all low kick.

I haven't used either of the sticks but I am in the market myself. I played around with the new vapor line sticks last night at the store and the X800 felt much much better than the X700 or X600. It even felt more balanced than the X900. So I'd recommend going to the store and holding them and seeing how you feel because I was sold on the X800 as soon as I picked it up.

Right, but he's comparing a $59 stick and a $99 stick. Adding in the next level just bumps the price up to double of the original stick he was asking about. I was assuming the X800 was out of his price range.
