Wide ankle skates

Recommended Posts

I have tried a few skates and can't find anything that doesn't hurt and I like

Supreme NXG EE too narrow in the heel, foot fell asleep in about a minute.

Rbz EE fell asleep in about a minute

Nexus 8000 EE fell asleep in about 5 minutes

The problem seems to be with the bottom of the padding on either side of the heel. The very bottom of that seems to cut off bloodflow to my foot

I'm coming from 8ish year old mission s400. My foot itself isn't that wide by my ankle is bigger

If your feet are falling asleep in RBZs and Nexus, you might just have to get the pair that fits best besides the heel and then have a pro shop punch out both sides of the heel. Before you do that though, see if you can try on the Nexus 7000s. I think the 8000s have a different fit than the rest of the Nexus line.

I think I tried 7000s 8000s and looked at 4000s. I work in a proshop but we never get trained on anything but sharpenings. We have a boot stretcher that I have played with on a pair if old skates. What would I use to punch out the sides? We also have this blue thing with a ball on the bottom and a concave part on top that press together which may be what you are talking about

Yeah, that would be the punch. Depending on how much area the pressure is on, you may need something with more area to push out the insides. You could punch it multiple times or bake them and see if that would help alleviate some of the pressure. On my Nexus' I actually needed more heel lock, so what I did was bake the entire boot, heat one heel at a time, put the boot on, and then use a clamp to narrow the heel some. That helped me a lot, so you would just need to that minus the clamp plus some way to make your heel wider to stretch it out. You guys might have something in the pro shop that could help push out the heel. This might be kind of a dumb idea, but what if you tried baking them and then putting a baseball (or some other ball wider than your heel) in the heel and then lacing up the boot?

On my vapors I bought before knowing anything about skates(stupid) I put a glass ball jar in the heel like a moonshine jar and left it and it helped but being vapors still hurt

Too cheap for VH. Mako has a heavy lean forward doesn't it? I like to be more neutral

Get them profiled. I had mine done with a negative shift a larger radius and found that helped a lot. You could also put Tuuk holders on.
