CCM CL500 Glove ** Updated: Warranty Replaced **

Recommended Posts

so I got these gloves last year as a Christmas present from my kids

I have used them approx. for 4 skates (beer league) from Jan-Feb, then had a major groin/ab tear and didn't use them again until a month ago

I have used them a total of maybe 10-12 skates and thats it

It appears that CCM added small holes for ventilation in the finger tips, but the holes also line up w my finger tips

as a result, I am wearing holes in these 3 fingers, as well as the right hand glove, same spots

I absolutely love these gloves

the gloves themselves are in great shape everywhere else, but Im at the point of a few more games and Ill have 3 fingers poking out each glove

heres a pic:

is this a quality control issue for earlier models?

I have seen an updated model in Sport Check that has the foam piece on the cuff covered in nylon

mine is still the raw foam...if that makes sense?

heres what mine look like:

Reason I ask, is maybe they also address the finger tip issues along w adding the nylon on the cuffs, instead of keeping them exposed

Im doubting CCM will replace these, as they are almost a year old now, but man seems like a short life span for "pro like" gloves

I know they paid good money for these gloves, close to $200 w tax

the new Tacks gloves have a stretchy material on the finger tips now

anyone in Canada do this type of work, for a decent price?

These gloves do have durability issues but I've never had problems with the gussets developing holes. I have 6 different pairs. Haven't had this problem with any of them. You grip your twig too tight?

The issues I've had are with the inside of the nash thumbs separating and the nylon/ plastic edges developing holes.

I'm sure it varies by user, but definitely not made to last over 2 years of heavy use.

Personally didn't like the tacks. The cuff felt a lot longer and just was an altogether heavy glove.

Check out custom pro repair in Canada to do your equipment mods. That's where I'll be sending mine once they've bit the dust.

I'm going to take a guess and say that it sounds and looks like the glove may be too small for your hands. In my CCM CL Pro gloves, my fingers don't touch the tips of the gussets at all:

Unfortunately, I haven't used my CCM CL Pros enough to say whether or not it's a durability issue, but I suspect it's a poor fit.

However, If you still want to keep them and have them repaired, then you can get them repaired by Pat: http://customprorepair.com/. He's located in Canada, does great work, has a variety of materials, is very reasonable and can do some crazy glove modifications if requested.

AND/OR

I highly recommend that you read this great user thread on the types of materials used for gloves palms and gussets, and it also offers/recommends several other repair shops: Glove Materials Guide

just for the sake of the pic, I shoved my hand a little further into the glove to show the holes

I think they fit OK

I'm sort of in-between sizes tho as a 15 is too big, especially in the pinky, and the 14's fit much better - not too small I think tho

I did some searching for glove repair last night, I didn't see that link tho thanks very much

I'm just worried that shipping both ways and even a say $50 repair puts me close to $100

these gloves are on sale for $99 right now

but I see myself having the same issues over again

I'm on the fence w the Tacks right now too

they feel heavier/bulkier than the CL's

super thick cuff too, so I'm not sure id replace w them

that being said I've tried on like 25+ different pairs trying to replace these and having a hard time!! LOL!

closest thing I could see myself getting is the Warrior QR Pro's..... but i really really like these gloves

maybe some sentimental value in them too, being as the kiddies got em for me :)

For me, the two closest gloves similar to the CL500s have been the CCM 30k and STX Surgeon. The only difference is neither have that blooming cuff that I like but I could probably get used to it eventually if I ran out of options. If you haven't tried those, definitely do. Their quality is so much better than the CL500s.

I tried on the 26k as no ones carries the 30k's here

seems nice, but ya the cuff is terrible compared to the CL500's

I actually contacted CCM and they wanted a copy of my bill of sale

sounds like they may warranty these ... should find out later today

I personally think its rediculous to offer anything a 90 day warranty. I mean, you only think your product should be gauranteed to last 3 months?

That said, good move by CCM, like you said - They got themselves a customer for life.
