vivaotravez12 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Had some time today, decided to play the good ol' Vice City again. Pop in the memory card, game loads, graphics can be seen, music, ect. Gets to the Loading data screen, then Load successful screen, and boom. Screen goes black, nothing shows up, and one annoyed, still bored person sits patiently, only to retry 6 more times with the same result. Game works without memory card plugged in, but I start at the beginning again. Memory card works without the game, with other games. I deleted information on the card, thought I had too much information, didn't work. Suggestions will be tried, failures will be tried again.
Eagles39 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 I dont know if this is under the same thing as my brother but, there is currently a class action suit against Sony about the PS2. If you call them and this is the same thing, they will repair it for free. Just call them to see whats going on.
mickz 107 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Don't call if your PS2 is modded = P
vivaotravez12 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Eagles:So, are you suggesting that there is a defect in the PS2 system itself? The system seems to work fine with any other game. Or, if there is a defect with the Sony Memory card, I am assuming this is what the class action suit is about? If so, can you further explain the problems your brother has had, so I can compare/contrast?Mickz:Don't worry about it... ;)

Guest pr0ph3t Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Yes. THe slimmer ps2 will sometimes screw up when playing a game like GTA, because it doesnt have enough power.
mickz 107 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 The new slimmer designs are only trying to boost sales... I remember when the SNES came out with a new design and I don't know one person that bought it. Same goes for the original Playstation.
LegoDoom 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 Yes. THe slimmer ps2 will sometimes screw up when playing a game like GTA, because it doesnt have enough power. The same thing happened with the first run of ps2's. You can increase the dvd laser strength. It doesn't sound like that is the problem here though.
vivaotravez12 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 No, I've got the throwback PS2. I'll check to see locations of a PS2 store in regards to me, see what they can say as well unless someone can help. I know that there is Gamestop quite close, would that be worth a try, or just waste of time?
mack 44 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 The only thing I've experienced that comes remotely close to what you're going thru happened with an old PS1. Supposedly any non-Sony memory cards would fry the memory slots.
Eagles39 0 Report post Posted December 31, 2004 There was something wrong with the laser in my brothers. They fixed it for free though.
