matix218 11 Report post Posted March 28, 2017 Hi guys, I have a question. I got some step V steel because I was not happy with how long my standard LS2 steel holds an edge. I do not like the OEM profile/shape and height of the STEP Steel though and I want to get it profiled to match the exact shape of a stock Bauer LS2 blade which I love. I dont have an LHS where I live now that offers profiling services. Are there places that I can just send only the blades out too, tell them to profile match them to a stock LS2 and reduce the blade height a bit, and have them do it and mail them back? Im just trying to find out my options... Thanks!
krisdrum 233 Report post Posted March 28, 2017 Yep. A quick google search will find you a few mail order profile and sharpening services. I can only assume they could also reduce the blade height as well. Although that seems a bit short sighted, as then you'll have to replace your blades more often as sharpening wears them down further. I believe the service a few guys use here is No Icing. MyBoxersSayJoe 133 Report post Posted March 28, 2017 You're used to a 9ft radius. The Step steel is 10ft. If you have it profiled to 9 ft, you won't have an issue with the height of the steel anymore. In fact, you may appreciate the little bit more of a lean you can take in turns. darkhors 88 Report post Posted March 28, 2017 You're not noticing the height of the steel, it's the profile as MyBoxer stated. Once you have it profiled to 9ft, it will feel like your old LS2's, you'll just have a more aggressive lean angle, which is good.

I just went through this switch this past month, knew what you were going through immediately. Glad I could help, hope you find a shop.
krisdrum 233 Report post Posted March 28, 2017 And I learned some valuable information as well. As a relative newbie, understanding how radius changes can be perceived on the ice is really helpful.
