Which skates have a high arch?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I need suggestions on a pair of inline skates. For ice I wear a pair of Bauer 8090's and they fit me like a glove, I love them. I need a skate that is pretty wide (even in a regular width) and also has a very high arch. What skates would you recommend? How is the fit of Nike's compared to Bauer's and also how are the fit of Missions and Tour's?

I already know that any of the CCM inline skates won't fit my foot so if Missions or Tour's have a similar fit to CCM's I can't wear those either.

I've got a store credit with HockeyGiant.com so i'd prefer to buy a skate that they carry... http://hockeygiant.com/inline-hockey-skate...zes-6---up.html

Thanks

I've been told that the Tours have high arches, so I would start there.

Do you know for sure? Because I have no way of trying these skates on, my LHS is horrible and has nothing in stock really.

Thanks

Tours dont have a high arch. They are more flat i think.

Thanks for clarifying that. Do you know which skates do infact have a high arch?

My Tour G-90 do indeed have an arch greater than pairs of Mission D1C and CCM Externo Outcast I have worn

I went to my LHS today (they're horrible with ice stuff but have a huge selection of inline skates) and tried on a pair of the Bauer 30-90's, they're absolutey awesome, I loved the fit and they had a high arch which was great. The only thing was that they were too narrow and I asked if they could be ordered on a wide width and the guy at the store told me that Bauer inline skates are not available in wide widths and if I needed a wide width my only option would be Nike. Is this correct that no Bauer inline skates are made in wide widths or is he just giving me some BS because he doesn't have them in stock?

Thanks

I currently have a pair of D1c's and before that I used Mission VSI's. However, in between those two skates I put together some purefly boots with a red star frame, but I couldn't use them at all b/c there was soooooo much arch. I believe the D1 Limited pretty much use the PureFly boot, so giving that D1 Limited at try may work, however i'm not sure if you can get the D1 limited in EE. If so, i think you might like the skate. I'm also referring to the D1 skate that came out before the D1c came out.

According to the downloadable catalog (Bauer_2005.pdf), yes they're

available in EE.

Wow, I just looked at the catalogue JR posted and you're absolutely right, they are available in an EE width. It's pretty shitty that the store just flat out lied to me like that, anything to make a quick buck I guess.

Is it right to assume that the 30-90's have a more traditional fit similar to the ice 80-90's as opposed to any of the Nike's?

Gekiganger is a huge tour fan. Tours are some of the only skates he can wear, due to his high arches. So I would PM him and ask his oppinion.

I have the 30-90s. Just got em re-chassied too. Skated on them tonight for a bit. Fit, for a Bauer boot, is good. Bauers always give me a hard time. These are pretty good. The wide toe-cap is WIDE, but it does make the skate feel better. My mission d1Cs killed the front of my foot, coupled with the DNA system, I just couldnt keep them. Im happy with the 1st impression of the 30-90s. PM me in a week or so and Ill be happy to let you know how they're feeling then.

So what you're saying is that the fit of the 30-90's is different than the fit of other Bauer boots, such as the ice 8090? How high is the arch on them? Thanks

I dont have the 8090s so i really cant say. My brother has XXs and he said the fit is pretty much the same. The toecap is very large though. Other than that, he said basically the same. The arches feel decently high. Mine started hurting. I have flat feet, and I could feel my fat feet trying to push out the arches, haha. I'd say they're medium. I had D1Cs and I think the arch was higher in those. Not by much.

The heel is somewhat narrow, and the boot widens out towards the toe, where it expands big time. I have Nikes for outdoor (not sure which model, they were $200 at my local store, if that helps, and that was about a year and half ago) and they DO NOT feel the same. The Nikes I felt pushed me straight up, while the Bauers give a me a little lean forward.

Have you ever considered getting differnt insoles instead of looking for a skate with a high arch?

lol, yes i've already tried that with my CCM's and it was a disaster, I had a whole thread on it a while back and tried virtually every insole on the market, bought all sorts of arch support things and whatnot and did everything possible short of buying custom orthotics and nothing really worked and the items that did work didn't work well at all. So now when I buy skates, if it doesn't properly fit me in stock form I don't even give them a second look and I mean, if there is a skate out there that fits me perfectly and has a high built in arch, why would I go with something that doesn't fit and i'll have problems with? There is just no replacement and no compensating for a skate that doesn't properly fit right off the bat, I learned this the hard way :(.

Thanks though.

Like previously mentioned, the tour G-90's do have high arches, the older tours, and the newer tours with the beemer frames have flatter arches. I bought a pair of g90-s on clearance for the frame and wheels, and I can verify, they have extremely high arches, they hurt my feet sitting down.

Apparently my LHS wasn't lying, I just called Bauer and it turns out Bauer screwed up because the 30-90's are not available in any sort of wide width and the 2005 catalogue is wrong.

Damn, not sure what i'm going to do now, I really love the 30-90's but I just need them wider...

I went ahead and bought the 20-90's, after talking to Bauer they basically told me that the 20-90 and 30-90's are identical, it's just the 30-90's have different wheels, new colors, and a slightly new design but for the most part the actual skate themselves are the same. So I saved $100 bucks by going for the 20-90's and if worse comes to worse I can just get them punched out.
