Skates that Fit Like Vapor XX

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to replace my Vapor XXs with something else (that means not XXXs either). They fit very well so I looking for something with a similar fit from any of the big manufacturers: Easton, CCM, Graf, Nike, or Mission? Anybody have suggestions? I'm particularly looking at Graf.

Thanks!

if it aint broken don't fit it, if they fit properly and you get the maximum out of your skating experience, don't change, upgrade...

And stay away from Graf, Me and allot of other people on have had big time problem with ever since they don't make the skates in Europe anymore...

Give mission a good look cause they are always trying to innovate or stick with what you got...

The grass only looks greener, don't be fooled...

I live in Calgary and have been to the factory. I have been using graf skates for about 8 years and ever since i have bought them i have noticed a made in canada label. I know that most of you think that its just a label and it doesnt mean anything, but im pretty sure that most of the skates shipped around Canada are made in Canada, meaning it is very unlikely that anyone in Canada got a pair from Europe. Sorry if I sound like I am laying the diss on someone for being wrong, but i truly believe that Graf has always made an exceptional product.

DON'T DO IT!!!

I just switched from XXs to G-35s and have had nothing but problems since...The outsole is crumbling underneath my forefoot. It's an issue that started maybe a week after I first purchased the skates, and has gotten progressively worse.

Then I take them in to claim warrantee, right? First, the guy tells me he wants to sand the outsole down, which I nix imediately and point out that the entire carbon structure (of BOTH skates) is falling apart, even underneath the holders. So he agrees that they should be replaced. On the 23rd of December, the Graf rep told me that he would call me within the first week of January to have me fitted for a replacement pair (why I needed to be fitted, I'm still not sure...).

The snake bastard has not called, and has made it impossible for us to make contact with him. We have sent him a certified letter, and still have no response. We are sending a letter explaining our situation to the attorney general, hoping he will force the issue...

I REALLY want to get ahold of this guy...I am PISSED!

I should have stuck with Bauer...

All Graf skates sold in NA are made in Canada. Before Graf Canada, Grafs were imported from Switzerland. You can still order them and get them from Europe, however. Lots of $$.

this is what every industry fails to understand, Graf people that make the skate in europe can afford to drive BMW's and Benz cars, People who do there skates in Canada take the bus... If you use cheap labour to make your hight end Product, the product will be cheap...

Like the saying goes, you don't frame a Picasso at Walmart

Amen!

Are the skates sold on Euro Hockey Monkey Swiss or Canadien Grafs?

I don't think that Graf Switzerland employees drive beemers or

benz. My understanding is that Switzerland has a high living cost,

much like scandinavian countries (Norway or Sweden for example),

so their workers are well paid for sure, but not to the point they can

easily afford luxury cars.

I grew up in Europe and basically, you're not paid as much as in

the US (I don't know for Canada). You can still live happily and

comfortably as you have a better health coverage (by some sort

of welfare state), and you don't need to earn as much.

I've heard quite a lot of bad things about Graf Canada but I don't

think it's a problem of cheap labor. If you take the example of

Mission, their high end skates are made in China, but the quality

is there. If you go to a store and compare a Purefly or S500 (made

in China) with a Vapor XX or Supreme 8000 (made in Canada), they

are of equal quality regarding materials and workmanship. You then

have to consider them in the long run, and so far I've never been

disappointed by Mission or Bauer products.

I would rather think that Graf Canada don't really care about the

quality or their reputation. If you don't care about producing crap,

you don't need cheap labor to do so. If on top of that Graf Canada

underpays its workforce, that's a recipe for disaster. To make the

matter even worse, they seem to have a rather bad customer

service.
