The Skatescribe Gold Profile is really nice fast and Agile Profile. Probably my favourite from them.  (12’ heal, 14’ Center, 8.65’ toe.)  My boy tried it out of curiosity and he liked it a lot, but went back to his previous profile which was a ME Quad/981 hybrid. Other boys on his team also tried it and liked it.

Do you use the same laser CAD system as Skatescribe to cut your profiles?

How does the Gold compare to your Hybrid 981?

What were your thoughts on the other Skatescribe profiles?

Are you and your sons still using the Hybrid 981?

Hey,  I do cut profiles on a CNC, only difference is I do the finish sharpen by hand on a blackstone. Measurments are taken with a laser.

The 981 Quad Hybrid is very close to the Gold Profile from skatescribe. Difference is the glide surface on the 981 Quad Hybrid is a bit shorter,  and the heal and the toe are shaped a little differently. They taper down slowly to get to the final toe radius. (Like an Ellipse but different) Think increasing or decreasing radius turns on an F1 race track.   continuously variable, not a fixed radius. Same Design Principal.

The Powercut is another Skatescribe profile I like. And just like the name suggests, very fast and powerful. easy to skate on. really good balanced center glide profile.

My boy and several others on his U13 AAA team are still on the 981 Quad Hybrid.  The rest of them are on my 0.5/1 Profile.  (The radius changes 0.5' per inch along the blade) 8.5' toe, to a 12.5' heal depends on blade length.... tapered as you move along the length of the blade. (Basically an exaggerated 9.5/10.5, but with a 10.5' center).  Their team went undefeated in their AAA league, won a few summit series tournaments, beat 8 out of the top 10 ranked teams in the US...   and they all skate on 11/16 to 1" hollows,  (sharpened on a portable blackstone).  We have 4 players from this team going to WSI in Prague this year.

My son likes his Skatescribe runners. He likes one more than the other I think and I can't remember with one. He has two different profiles and it has always confused me. I'll have to look at my notes.

He just played in the Ted Brill Great 8 in St. Paul. Lots of players there going to NAHL and USHL.
