Vapor XXX Palm Update

Recommended Posts

I finally had a chance to try on these gloves, and I must say, I love the fit. I would have purchased them immediately except for the palms. It looked like I would go straight through them in about a week. I know many of you had similar concerns, so to those who have had these gloves for a while now, how are the palms holding up?

Mine are holding up pretty well, except for the right hand, but it has normal wear that I get from any glove that I have had. I play at least 7 or 8 times a week. I know that I'm giving them a huge plug every time someone asks about these gloves, but they really are sweet. I'll get some pics up in a few minutes for you.

i think everyone has the same problem with gloves - where the butt end of your stick meets the glove it always tears a hole after some use - every glove i have ever used has done this - maybe someone just needs to figure out how to attach a soft pad or something to the butt end of the stick and then everyones gloves will last forever - lol

I've seen a fair bit of people who don't have that problem at all (I do though). What I generally have found it people either hold the tip of the butt-end in their palm (like us) and this will eat the away, or else the tip of the butt end is just sticking out of their first, which seems to be MUCH better on the palms.

Thanks for the pics.

That is the exact problem I have, the tearing right where I hold the buttend. I ripped through the reinforced palms on my HGTs in a matter of months in that exact spot, but almost 2 years later the rest of the palms are in perfect condition. Thats really what I'm worried about with the XXXs.

I finally got a chance to try on HGT's about 15 minutes ago, even though they weren't my size they felt amazing. I don't think that the palms on them are going to be any worse than HGT's, so if you have the money I would really recommend them.

I had Vapor XXX for almost three weeks now and the palms are holding up fine, as well as rest of the glove. The gloves haven't seen much ice though, so I'll update how mine holds up.

Has anyone already had the palm replaced on XXXs? I wonder how much it is for the manual labor as the spare palm already comes with the gloves.

hehe i agree - those could be pictures of the loch ness monster for all i know - no offense - i guess the biggest problem to fix wearing through the palms very fast is to put alot of tape on the sharp points of the butt end of the stick - thats is why i always get holes in my gloves, and it makes sense if u think about it

just my 2 cents....

I was told $30 for the palm replacement. I have used my pair in a few games now and love 'em. I had a hard time deciding between them and Eagles, but in the end they just felt more comfortable. I'm very happy with these gloves - they dry amazingly quick.

I have had the gloves for about a month now and the palms are holding up fine. I hold the butt-end of my stick in the center of my rt. hand when skating and you can tell the palm is wearing faster than the left one but nothing too serious. I will take some pics when I get the chance.

I asked my rep at the CSGA show if it would be possible to put a XX palm on the XXX glove. He said it is possible, but it is difficult because of the material on the fingers (I can't remember off the top of my head, I think it's lycra). I may order a pair and have a XX palm put on, just to see how it is. It is an absolutely awesome glove, no question about it, but for economic and time reasons, it would be a better choice to go with a XX or an Eagle.

I just sold a pair of Eagles to a guy and the stitching came out of half the fingers in one hand the first time he used it. Second pair I've had problems with in the last month.

That's odd, I've never had any quality control problems with Eagle. What model was it?

X70 goat. The fact it took them 9 days to ship the gloves didn't impress me either.

Funny you bring that up chad, the entire thumb side of my bottom hand on my CP94s has busted completely open after 2 weeks of using them

I had a similar situation with my x80's. About a month after I got them the palm started seperating from the glove between my index finger and my middle finger. It was frustrating, but to eagles credit they did repalm it for free, I was just without my gloves for the 3 weeks it took to repair. They authorized the return quickly, but took a week to get to NY to be fixed, a week at the repair place, and another week to get back. No problems since though, 6 months and counting.
