How to keep gloves "fresh"

Recommended Posts

I recently got my pair of gloves I bought from Steve here on modsquadhockey.

They are quite nice if i must say so myself :P

Anyway how do you guys air them out and keep them from getting crusty or obtaining that really horride smell.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanks!!!

Derek

well i remember how my old Hespeler "BASIX" would crust up at the palm everytime i dried them..it sucked but my vapors don't do that so..

but anyway i just either hang my gloves upside down or leave them some place in my garage to just air them out.

My old Easton's used to do the same thing. I got some Vapors as well and haven't had the problem at all. I air them out on the hockey tree in the basement.

My 9yr old son has the ability to turn new gloves into a biohazard in a matter of weeks. I started making him use that clear hand sanitizer stuff before he puts his gloves on.

So far almost 4 months- no stink.

If you have goat skin palms you shoulnd't have a problem. My black eagles have them and they never smelled bad, or got crusty. But on my red eagles I dont have the goatskin so I throw some "under the seat" air fresheners in them and it takes the small away.

what i do to dry my vapor XX gloves is put them on the tree in my basement and put a fan about 5-10 or so away and let that blow cool air into them. My equipment has dried completely in about 30-35 minutes.

If they already smell, then you could buy a regular air freshener, or disinfectant. Some hockey stores now carry a product called NO B.O., which is both. It comes in a big white spray bottle.

I've had my eagles w/goatskin for 7 months and they are starting to get a bit crispy, just airing out normally in the garage.

That's how I treated my gloves and rest of my gear since forever. Surprisingly, it still took my Bauer 2000 nearly a year to start getting crusty palms. It doesn't get rid of smell entirely, but it works for me.

Not very humid down here in Spoke compared to you guys in Vancouver. Basement seems to be alright.

i have used a combo of 70% rubbing alcohol and distilled water and spray them in my bauer 5000s afte every use and put them on this glove skate drying thing my dad made for me. It is a swirl cage fan i guess its called for like a furnace or woodstove with pvc pipes branching off and my gloves smell as good as the day i bought them. Its awesome i have them about 3 months now and skate like 3 times a week.
