CCM HYBRID VISOR

Recommended Posts

FYI Got a notice today from hockey monkey that my CCM hybrid FMRHVR cage is being recalled due to the visor breaking

I can tell you from experience that the micro-fractures are a real issue, and surprising that CCM took this long to announce a recall.  The fractures mostly occur at the side screw holes but they can also happen at the edges of the visors.  A bit disappointed with CCM's recall policy of exchanging for a FV1, a FM580, or a FM780.  All (3) of those options are not equitable to the original cost of the HVR.  The replacement visors alone cost more than the FM580 and FM780, and AFAIK the FM780 is a discontinued model which is low in inventory at most retailers.  Would have been better if CCM just figured out a way to manufacture an upgraded version of the visor and send those out, but I'm sure they figured that to be either 1) not feasible or 2) not cost effective.  Disappointing, cause in the past I have had great customer relations with CCM.

As a hybrid cage user, it’s too bad. I liked it better than bauers hybrid. Hopefully ccm brings it back with some better engineering

UPDATE:  CCM and all the other retailers I purchased HVR products from have been great and very easy to work with.  All have offered full refunds if you don't want any of the exchange products offered.

yeah, the retailer i took mine to just exchanged the visor for me and gave me a gift card for the remainder, which is good because i wanted another FV1 anyways, and i was about a week away from just putting the visor on sideline swap when they announced the recall.
