Switching the eyelets out on the 950's

Has anybody tried removing the plastic eyelets and replacing them with a standard eyelet? I can’t see any problem with just drilling holes and replacing the eyelets. I would imagine this would get ride of the wrinkling problem near the eyelets.

I have thought about it on my Dlimiteds but my boss advised against it because the material is soft so it can wrap around your foot more and would probally rip out easy.

Haha definately a misplaced post ^^^^. Anyway, I proposed this question myself sometime ago. I suspect it could be done. You would have to go to a quality shoemaker though, or hockeyshop. A botched job will kill ya. Especially as Icedog mentioned, the material is softer to wrap your feet. The eylets might pull out easy. Also, u might not get a nice tight fit because the material was designed to be pulled a different way. Ask Justin on here. Hes from Mission. Im sure mission RandD has explored regular eyelets on the Ds and new 950s.

I put dynastys on 950s without a problem and a guy in my league has hornets on his, so I'm guessing that's not a widespread problem.

i would bring them to an experienced cobbler to get the eyelets put in. Actually i wouldn't even chance messing with them, but if I did i would make sure they were done right. The DNA strands extend down the boot a little ways, underneath the white material, so the boot would have to be stitched up damn good after they were removed before the eyelets were punched

most of my friend got their 950's and put a Hammer chassis on. They couldn't help me

My D3's had a problem with fitting other wheels in them, but its just a matter of using a bit of brute force and pushing them in. Trust me, they will go.

Well, one of my Factory wheels blew out tonight at pick up, so I am going to have to go buy a set of wheels now (the other wheels on my skates are all torn up). I am most likely going to go with the Rink Rat hornets. I'll post after I attempt to get them on my 950's.
