What is the point of buying a 100 dollar pant over a 50 dollar one? Its like buying 100 dollar jeans over 50 dollar ones....I cant justify it. Anyone have some good reasoning so I can justify a new pair of HE750s?

i always wondered the same thing. I have a pair of hyper titaniums. I got them just as the new line came out last yr, and they cost me 70-somethin bucks. They ARE nice pants, I love them. They have nicer features than my previous, cheaper pair, but still not worth the pricetag. Pants are the most over-priced thing in roller hockey if you ask me.

I have a pair of bilt rite works pants (top of the line at the time) that have taken a beating but have no rips at all. Meanwhile I have a pair of Hystyk pants from playing for team hystyk that lasted....maybe a summer.

Nazzy,

Just like anything else, you get what you pay for. But then again, it's for each person to determine what they need best.

As for Hyper pants, the higher in grade you go, the more features that are added to each, i.e. double layered knees, higher grades of mesh, heavier, more durable materials, additional stitching, etc.

Not everyone wants or needs a high end pant, but for the players out there that beat the hell out of pants diving for loose pucks, blocking shots, etc, they will definitely get more life out of a heavier weight pant.

For your recreational player, I agree, a less expensive, lighter weight pant is probably best for them.

It's kind of like choosing a car. If you live in the city and commute on smooth surfaces a lot, a less expensive more efficient car is probably your best choice. If you live in a more rural area, a more expensive truck or SUV may be more practical for a rougher terrain.

I hope that makes sense. Good luck with your choice.

I've used a couple different kinds of pants in my short career. I stareted out with some Bauer "NHL Breakout" pants and they tore up real quick on sport court. Moved on to some really cheap Mission Shell's (no padding or anything looked like track pants). Also got some Tour Rage pants ($6 on ebay) used those outdoors on tennis court surfaces and their pretty durable. this past season my entire team got Mission D2 pants we decided on this pant because it had the best amount of padding without being too bulky to skate with.

I still love those old black biscuit pants! They are very cheap, and light, but id rather have them than the high end missions that are way heavier.

Amen to that. They were the first two pairs of roller hockey pants I owned and they lasted forever (playing indoor on SportCourt). Even if you fell/dove, the "slickness" of the material allowed you to slide more versus just impacting the ground and sticking. Nothing fancy, just a single stripe but they did the job and then some.

I've never bought a really expensive pair of pants (troo's, if you're me. or Scottish :D), but I've got a couple of nice pairs just now. Our "team issue" ones are blue/red/white Black Biscuit Xaero's, which are pretty damn nice. Double layered knees, which don't tear much, light and comfortable.

For practice, I've got an old pair of black Koho ones which can take a hell of a beating, and my hideously bright blue Rhino ones. Quite light, quite airy, really baggy, and can take a beating. They might blind you if you look right at them though... B)

during the cold months when I used to play roller, I'd just wear inside out sweat pants.

in the summer I'd wear the lightest cheapest ventilated roller pants I could find.

I used to play w/ a kid who mostly wore bright plaid pajama pants..........great skater, stickandler, shooter, all around athltete........he was a nasty player on ice or court.
