Recommended Posts

Im looking at buying some new skates. I would your guys opinion on which ones i should consider. Im not looking for a really high performance skate (ie. synergy or vapor xxx) but just a good middle class skate. The help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Look into the Mission s400 or the Bauer XV

:/ XV's??

I've got them..and...

the outsole broke after 1 1/2 year

increases the performance, but still skating with them

id probably be willing to spend in the 200 range cuz thats where it seems that those types of skates are.

S300s are a nice skate for around $200. I loved my old CCM 852s that I got for around that price a few years ago.

I'm surprised no on mentioned the ever popular option of previous years' closeouts.

I dunno your foot type but you can find lots of closeout, higher end Bauers and CCM's on various sites.

Try hockeymonkey.com, hockeygiant.com, 1800faceoff.com

Depending on your size, you can find older model Bauer 7000's, 5000's, 6500's, 4500's, and Bauer Classic Gold's.

But if you're looking for something newer, and they fit, I'd suggest Bauer 6000's, lots of places have them in various sizes and are right around 200USD for senior sizes.

Definitely look at the S300's or the new L4 skates when they come out...Your feet will thank you for how comfortable they are...

Also, make sure you try on multiple manufacturers...We all have our own fit...

I just looked at the 05 bauer/nike cataloge. Is there a difference between bauer and nike skates. Or are they the same skate with a different name on them. But i have heard that the nike skates are really comfortable. Whats your guys take on them?

Thanks

Nike generally fit wider than Bauer. There are other differences but that is the most important.

im skating in nike prostocks right now. they fit really nice and are extremely comfy. they do fit a little wider than bauers like chadd said, but if you have a wide foot youll love them the lightspeeds are a plus too. i bought mine for 269 last year, so they are probably cheaper now.

In that price range, the Vector 6.0, hands down.

If they fit your foot they are a great skate I agree. The only reason im leaving the vectors is they just dont fit my foot as good as my old eastons did.
