Favorite Playoff Series?

Recommended Posts

Good topic. Another vote for the 1994 Eastern Semifinals (NYR/NJ) and Cup Finals (NYR/'Nucks). Can anyone forget Bure VS Richter? NHL fan interest seemed to be at a peak around that time....damn shame it couldn't sustain.

Yzerman vs the blues, err i mean Red wings vs the blues were stevie wired that one over Turek's shoulder. One of the nicest slappers ive seen.

Wasnt that Stevie Y's first cup? Great series either way.

Yes yes it was. Seeing Yzerman jumping up and down the instant the puck went in (and the camera got a great angle on that shot) was so freakin awesome. Having suffered through the terrible 80s and 90s with the Wings, I'm man eough to admit I teared up like a little biatch when that goal went in... :P

I'm going to go opening round '93 To vs. Detroit and the '01 and '02 Sens series vs. To. Honestly, who else expected Berezin to pass on a 2 on 1? I was at the game and I almost went into shock.

LMAO, he was a bit of a puck hog wasn't he. I love the post-game interview with Nikolai Borschevsky "Bob Rouse make nice pass, big goal"

2001-2002, when Bourque won his cup. I still have my "Mission 16 W" hat. As a Bruins fan I was upset that he left, but the Av's are my other favorite team so it wasnt too big of a deal. :D

Game 3 of the '00 Flyers/Penguins series. It was a long enough game to be an entire series.

I remember laying on the couch falling asleep during the middle of that game. When I woke up in the morning and saw the game on, I assumed that it was the ESPN replay. Then my eyes adjusted and I saw what period they were in....

I was at that game. I dont know if I'd go to another game like that if I knew it would last that long. So draining emotionally.

As far as my favorite series...maybe the '93 Toronto v. L.A. Kings, that game seven Gretzky played was awesome. The '96 Detroit v. St. Louis game seven with Yzerman ringing the post was great too. To bad they lost to the Avs in the next series. <_<

Ugh, don't remind me... I was still riding high on the memory of getting past the second round.. on the cappie's back. I teared up for a different reason in the 3rd round. :( Man that hit on Draper into the door still gives me the willies.. I remember thinking "I think I just saw a player die" in my head...

I thought that when Pronger went down like a sack of 'taters against the wings the year after I believe.

but as crappy as 96 was, 97 was SOOO good, and 98.. heh. Like I said, growing up a wings fan I seriously wondered if I'd ever see a cup in my lifetime.

Oh how times change... I sure never thought in 1985 that people would be calling our team a bunch of all-stars.. or that we were buying a cup. Heck I remember when they were actually giving cars away at EVERY game just to get people to come!

Yeah, but those cars were gutted and didn't have wheels...heck, half of them were missing the engine.

I love watching the Rangers against the Devils and Nucks in 94.' Also, Gretzkys Kings were unbelievable in 93. The Flyers in 97 must have been fun to watch as well.

Except for the missed high stick that cost the Leafs the chance to play the Habs. At least Fraser admits it.
