djinferno, i feel your pain

Recommended Posts

I recently bought a pair of 705's from Hockeygeeks via the internet. Now Ive been skating on Bauers for the last 10 years, so I thought I would benefit more from having Tuuks on them.

The skates arrive and I use them a handful of times.Comfy, but cannot figure out for the life of me why in the hell I can't turn or cross hard to the left.

JR has me take a closer look, and then I notice this:

Cross lasted like a bastard.

Needless to say its been taken care of, and some G5's are on the way. Crafsmanship of hand made doesnt always equal quality.....

The sole was uneven when the skate was made...exactly what happened to djinferno's. I had him measure dead center from the top of the tendon guard down to the bottom of the boot...that is why he has the catalogue there. You can see the inside part of the heel is higher than the other side.

You guys are freakin' me out! I just ordered some custom Graf's last week. As many bad things as I've heard about Bauer Vapors, it seems like at least on this board that Graf's are more of a probablem. Hopefully Bauer owners are just accepting this as a fact of life, while Graf owners are less accepting of flaws. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

While Bauer has flaws, most of them are minor compared to the one pictured. The exception being when the holders are mounted incorrectly, and at least that can be fixed by the local dealer most of the time.

You are wrong. Bauers are very well made in my opinion. The Vapors were not made to be the most durable skate in the world, just light and comfortable off the bat.

I believe Bauer crafts the finest skates. I have skated in Bauers for years and would not accept second rate quality. I would never take a skate as flawed as Grafs. I have seen multiple skates that don't even have the same number of eyelets on the same pair of skates

I agree that those Graf's are pretty messed up, but I have no choice but to custom order Graf's. After viewing all of the complaints, I am wondering if I should ice skate at all. :(
