Molding Shin pads?

Recommended Posts

I went to Scoff's to check out what they had for pants b/c my new shin pads (Bauer 6000) are to big to fit under my pants(Easton Z-air 02). The guy said I could take a heat gun and heat the shin cap and then tie tape around it to mold it into a smaller piece, will this work? I don't want to damage my shin pads because I just bought them last week.

If you heat it gently, it would work. An old leather belt would be better than tape though. Just make sure you have the correct sizing on both the pant and the shin.

Wow, that's actually a great idea... my TPS Contour shinpads fit me very well but they're extremely bulky, mabye doing this could give them a slightly lower profile.

It doesn't take much heat at all. For example, I accidently washed my Jofa shin guards in hot water in the washing machine and when I pulled them out the were deformed. I used my heat gun and easily reshaped them, but be careful not to get them too hot!!! They will melt!!!!!
