Guest phillyfan Report post Posted April 18, 2004 It's a penalty to hit a guy from behind, ther refs aren't supposed to have a choice. Try playing more under control and you'd be surprised how many of those penalties you don't get. It is indeed a penalty to hit a guy from behind, but at the referees discretion, it may or may not be one. It is a judgement call, and according the instructors at the referee clinics, it will not be a penalty if the player turns his back after seeing the oppostion fast approaching. Guest phillyfan Report post Posted April 18, 2004 How can you hate outdoor arenas phillyfan? they are the best. Elias, I loved the outdoor arena I visited in MA near my Uncles, and really love the scenary offered by them. But I believe I specified during the winter, if not, during the winter. I had to play up near you, McKay Ice Arean, the rink with 3 walls, not sure why they didn't just add the forth, but we had to play up there during the winter last season when it was snowing. Talk about cold....not sure why but few players tried the tongue on a pole, but on their shaft, it wasn't pretty....

USA Hockey instructors tell you to make the call no matter what. The referee has no discretion on hitting from behind, though many think they should. Stop posting information you know nothing about. bdj 0 Report post Posted April 18, 2004 - Players who talk on the ice like theyre king shit but they cant hit you at all, or score.- Players who make stupid squeeling noises when I hit them- Players who get hit and lie on the ice and cry like someone cut off thier legs when you know they arent hurt- Players who scream at the ref when you tap thier stick or shin pads or hit them cleanly- Players with no shots who take 20 seconds to wind up and try and make themselfs look like theyre in the NHL and then the shot goes over the net at 4mphAnd lastly, kids with ugly or old helmets, cant stand them.I have more, but Im getting pissed just typing them. Exactly. In the reffing clinic they said it doesn't matter if her turned 1 second before yo uhit him its a hitting from behind penalty. The retarded thing bout my penalty is it was more of a pin then a hit the guy was probably 3or 4 inchs from the boards. In the Alberta hockey association rules if you hit a kid from behind you get either a 2min and a game misconduct or a 5min and a game misconduct. gopens67 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 players who roll up their jerseys to their elbow pads so they look like gay roller hockey players...lol.
Guest phillyfan Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I don't roll up the sleeves all the way to the elbow pads, but about half way there. I certainly don't intend to look like a "gay roller hockey player!" I do it because I am able to move my wrists with ease.

crosskore 0 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I guess ill put in my opinions.First off all, alot of you dont like the socks over the back ov the skate, but my skates tendon protector thing is kinda short, plus i put tape around my laces to make sure the dont come undone and when i put my socks in the tiny tendon holders i look really stupid, so i just put it over. Maybe I can put them inside when i get new skates.for the stuff i hate:1) People who dont pass the puck so you wait on the blue line and have a nap. (sometimes i go offside on perpose)2) When your on a AAA team (wich is made and coached to win) and parents yell because their kid didnt getto play inthe overtime. 3) This kid put a blade in the bottom of his sicore, i told him he put it in the wrong way. He says "You HAVE to put it in this way, it wont fit in the other end idiot". so i say "Thats because you need a taperd blade... Idiot" then he says "It doesnt matter anyways". I knew it matters, i just smiled and walked away though.4) People who play dirty during tryouts. I got hooked in the jewels from this one kid about 5 times in tryouts. You dont needthat in tryouts.5) People who dont shut up when the refs do something and end up getting penalties. One kid on my team got at LEAST one penalty a game for mouthing off to the ref. ( funny how his dad was one of the ones yelling when his kid didnt play much in overtime.)6) Coaches who make the teams before tryouts then after a couple games in the leage under them say "Whost that kid?" and ask him to join the team. 7)People who blame golies for everything.8) Those nike mario lemieux helmets. Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 I hate kids who drop there sticks atleast once a game and will skate within 3 feet of it and not pick it up. Also hate when they take off their glove to pick it up, learn to grab it by the blade and not have to fudge with your glove.

JR Boucicaut 3803 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 This is what pisses me off...Today there was a Midget game and it got chippy...they were all talking smack to each other like "You wanna go?" and stuff...when it came down to it, nobody dropped their gloves...one kid even hiked up his elbow pads and sleeves WITH his gloves on...I laughed soooooooooooo hard... Fire0nIce228 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 When you get one pair of socks to last a whole season they are holy as crap after awhile and its hard to make them last or look decent. I wish we got more socks each year :(
Guest 2048 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 What I hate about hockey players is when they bitch about how other guys wear their gear.
Kirsch 1 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 lol, 2048 nice.I don't really have any pet peeves. Not much gets to me.One thing I do hate though is people that whine and moan about every little thing. I can understand if you just got slashed in the face or it could have caused a serious injury. Other than that its hockey, not cross stich, not basketball, but hockey. Maybe I'm a little to hard nosed but come on people the sport isn't for wimps. Also I don't care one bit how people wear their equipment because they are just there to play the game I love, and I respect that enough to just not care and play on. Cavs019 710 Report post Posted April 19, 2004 Im not going to be a hypocrite because most of my equipment is nice, however Ill agree with 2048 and say there is nothing better than seeing a guy who looks like a total clown on the ice tool all of the "pimped out" players.
