For those who work or have worked in a pro shop, do you consider it to be a good job?

It's about time for me to get a job since I'm turning 16 in May and was wondering if working in a pro shop would be a good first job.

It would.

Unfortunately, the mistake that I made was that I took a kid's first job and actually thought I could make a difference. Took me 4 yrs to get out of that. I'm not saying all shops are like that but mine was.

That's good then. I found it difficult, I really only went to the one LHS and they seemed to have a very tight core of staff. I was asked for a resume, but never offered a job there.

if you enjoy hockey, and you are knowledgeable about the equipment... and you are not looking to make a whole lot of money doing it... its a great gig. the best advice i can give to someone staring in the biz... learn how to SELL not just take orders, your boss of the store will greatly appreciate, and reward your efforts.

good luck if you take this route

It's a good first job and you can learn a lot of lessons. I wouldn't suggest wanting to make a career out of it though.
