reebok equipment

is this going to be the next bauer? or will it fail like other companies in the past?

its designs are similar to ccm's skate designs...will they be replacing vectors?

Reebok was smart and didn't immediately jump into hockey like Nike did when they bought Canstar. Nike has taken several yrs before their branded equipment was on par with the Bauer name. Reebok seems to be trusting the CCM direction and easing into it, with the Vector line wearing CCM before it's moved into the RBK badging

They are not going to replace the Vector line. I talked to a guy today at my local shop who knows quite a bit about skates and he told me that the Reebok skates are going to fit more like Bauer skates as they are trying to steal some customers from Bauer, because they already have a solid Vector skate fanbase so it would be stupid to tweak with something that works.

Just my opinion...

I have never really used CCM equipment in the past so I won't be using it any time soon just because the have the Reebok vector stamped on it.

from what i have been told, RBK only bought THC for the rights to the Jerseys in the Pro Leagues. That would give them all the major sports but Baseball.

That's where the real money is.

With the lockout, I wonder how big a loss they took this year? :-) NHL jersey sales are in the crapper.

RBk knew of the possibility of a lockout going in. They are so big that the lockout will not really hurt them at all. Just look at how much money they make in everything else

As long as there is a season next year they will be fine. If there is no NHL for another year, then they will have some issues with merchandise. Keep in mind that a lot of the teams will be changing their jerseys so there will be a ton of new merchandise to sell. They also have the AHL as of next year.

The whole lockout might end up helping them in the end. When the NHL comes back, weather new fans or old fans, Rbk will already have tremendous sight in the NHL, so players won't be phasing it in. They can easily just snag guys now and return as if rbk is a normal brand, and nothing new.
