First Cars?

Recommended Posts

First car I drove would be a beat up 1978 Chevy Pick-up on my grandparent's farm. I would have been about 11 at the time.

First car I bought myself, a '69 Buick Wildcat. Owned it for 3 hours and sold it for $300 more than I just paid. Have had a few more different ones since those days.

I'm driving my parent's Tercel right now...they said that the first car I own will be the first car I pay for...

Since my father had his own business at the time, I had to have my own car and insurance policy. That just about killed me.

Yeah, same with a couple friends I know. I don't know what the deal is, if you got into an accident so it relate liability back to the company or some trash, do you know the reason for it?

Right now I have about 4500 saved up, my rents gave my older brother our truck that they figured was worth around 5000 so they're going to pitch 5000 towards a car for me, I think that's pretty damn good. I get a 14 dollar an hour full time warehouse job next summer, full time for 4 months and i'll bring in around 12K, so in a year I'll have around 18-19K to throw at a car :) Gonna buy a 99/2000 mustang GT, throw on a novi 2000, lower it, and put a decent stereo in it.

The theory is that if their name is on the title that they can be held liable for anything that I do with the car. With the American legal system being serving as a lottery for people, it's just safer to avoid any link at all.

you've put over 15,000 into a 1994 car??? hell, forget the year... a car period, that isnt a classic that could get you the money back out of it!

WHY may i ask!!!!!

I've never driven the Crossfire, but lookswise,  I love the interior. Black/Red/Silver combo just does it for me, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to get the Beamer no problem from her...she only owns like 10 other cars. (She's rich, I'm not, so don't think I'm spoiled, yet.)

correct me if im wrong, but isnt the Z8 over a 100 grand.

how old are you???

if this is gonna be your first car, then something is wrong in this world... no offense to you. no kid just getting their license deserves that kind of car, and i don't care how much money someone has!!!

No, you're right, I'm wrong. I was looking at the Z8 in a magazine, but she actually has the Z4. If she were to give me a 100K car, even I wouldn't take it... I'm assuming the Z4 would only be 50K topps, brand new with all options, so it's not like it's going to cost me an arm and a leg for her used one, without all options and hell, I am her nephew too so she'll probably give it to me.

I don't have it yet, but have my Aunt's Z8 lined up...super sweet car. If for some reason she doesn't sell it to me, Crossfire appeals to me quite nicely. Only con of both of these are the small trunks, and don't think the quad will fit, do you?

that like the 125k BMW :o

I can say I have a brand new Z06 "lined up", but that doesn't mean it's going to happen. I would bet money he's not going to get that car.

Name your bet. :D

Show me:

  • Proof of sale
  • Registration with your name on it
  • Insurance with your name on it
  • Drivers license with your name on it
  • Picture of you and the car with a newspaper from that day and a sign that says "I own tokes" or some crap like that

And then I'll send you nothing. A Z4 is a bit of a different story from a Z8, but I still can't see you getting one, assuming you're a normal teenager living at home, and not a 25 year old who's been working full time for a few years :P Good luck with it though.

you are kidding me right... just because she is your aunt, doesn't mean you should get her 50000 car. and yes, it will cost an arm and a leg. unless your arm and leg are valued at considerably more then the car!!! good luck either way, and if she gives it to you, then there is still something wrong with this world.

just got the licinse 1995 Dodge Dakota V8 :D and no tickets, going fast is over rated ;)

Going fast is overrated. Insurance costs FAR to much these days. As for the first car, it was/is my dad's van. The first car I owned (before I even got my liscense) was an El Camino, bought it for 3G's and ended up selling it for 5 a couple months ago. I'm looking for a car right now actually. Hoping to get somthing tough like a '69 Camero(I can dream can't I?LOL). In all seriousness I just want a truck that gets from point a to b and is ok on gas.

You mean taking the actual road test? Everyones always a bit nervous at first but just try to relax and be confident in your driving skills.

Haven't driven on main roads yet? Have your parents or someone take you out and get some practice
