Insoles for Performance

Recommended Posts

I'm not really looking for comfort. I'm more interested in the performance of these fancy insoles. Do they really enhance your skating ability and which insoles are the best for performance (power transfer, etc...)?

The Nike insoles, which aren't really usable in any other skates are the best. They're good because they're really stiff, so provide awesome energy transfer, have a waffle patterned bottom so it has air release, and they're really light for something built like that. As far as universal insoles, I would guess the vapor ones, as they have the really frictiony bottoms, so you won't slip in your skates. I can't think of any other insoles that would be good.

CCM and RBK have new insoles and one of them is slightly tacky, I just don't recall the brand. I like the concept, I'd like to see how it works in reality.

If they have mouthpieces that will improve your preformance, Im sure theres some high prefroming insoles out there

Exactly. Skate insoles are all personal preference, as too high of an arch or too stiff may bother your feet to the point were you don't skate as well b/c you're focusing on your feet hurting.

Assuming you believe a mouthpiece will improve your performance.

That's the point of what was said Chadd, a mouthpiece or a specific insole is not going to improve your performance. The very first post in this thread said they want perfomrance, and not so much concern on comfort. If there is one insole that truly is so stiff to increase power transfer enough to make a difference, it'd probably be so stiff and unconforming that you might as well skate w/o an insole and get the direct transfer to the bottom of the boot.
