Depression

Recommended Posts

Recently being diagnosed with a mild case of manic depression its a b^%&h to overcome. I definitely noticed a difference once the meds kicked in. I am definitely glad to say i got this problem taken care of one for my well being two for my family and friends well being and my girlfriends. One thing that i noticed right away was not drinking as much. I went from getting smashed 2-3x a week to hardley getting a buzz 1 night a week and that made a world of difference. One thing to consider is that ive read is that depression is a manifestation of supressed anger. When i feel a bout of depression i usually go to the batting cages a few times a week and take about 100 pitches each time im there. Each person is different though. I t definitely takes courage to come out and talk about this and i have to give you respect for doing in a way such as this good luck with your treatment

I'm very impressed at the maturity level of this post, good stuff. I suffer from the "ups and downs" as well, too be honest I think it's normal. Life throws curves at you, and the best way to handle them is by knowing that things won't stay down forever. Its easy to be cynical but training yourself to have a positive outlook makes dealing with the issue that much easier

I've never really been diagnosed with depression, but i'm pretty sure i'm manic depressive. I'm always tired, and very rarely feel like doing anything. My friends have to practically drag me outta the house to do anything, and i even skipped hockey practice the other day cause i was so tired and didn't feel like leaving.

BTW not that im proud of it or anything, but i'm icedog03's friend that he is talking about. I can attest that getting drunk while being depressed is a bad thing.

Do you fluctuate between having periods like that and periods where you feel like you have tons of energy and feel like you are on top of the world

i agree with you theo in that drinking is not the answer to problems. i am only 15 but i have friends who drink and do drugs and they try to pressure me in to doing it too. and i have considered it. i thought about, thinking to myself maybe this will help get rid of my problem's and help me relax for a bit. but then i look at the bigger picture and its just not worth it. i dont want to ruin my life by doing that stuff.

i mean i dont see a problem with drinking once in a while but not yet for me anyways.

Don't let people pressure you into anything you don't want to do. Tried a lot of things and they aren't worth it. A huge percentage of my school drinks and does drugs, I have to, but it's not something you want to get into. It's always cool until it really ruins someones life.

the only time i feel a little bit depressed is in the summer when i dont do anything all day because my dad is on a bussiness trip and i usually hang out with him all day. i just feels weird to know the night before that your not going to do anything the next day, hopefully more golfing this summer will help. Thats very relaxing

To me that sounds more like chronic depression than manic depressive. Manic depressive is where you fluctuate between periods of depression and happiness.

There are several good websites out there with information about it. Many explain the difference between depression and manic depression

I am full of clichés with this kind of stuff but its true.

In anything in life its not how good you are but the fact that you never give up. Eventually things turn around and if you are "there" you will grasp the rewards.

Don’t let depression wreck your life. Always move forward.
