When is college back in session?!? Bloody fackin' hell- three fackin goalies at shinny?!? McDangles was there- I stopped him three times. He scored on me more than that. Let in a few really, really stupid shots. Made some weird, weird saves. I still suck like a Dyson.

I can finally say I've created the perfect fitting skate for myself. C width MX3s with Speed Plates and Powerfoot toe inserts. Steel is 10' with a +2 pitch. It's like wearing a pair of Jordan's (albeit instant response) on the ice. Threw my X100's in the pic because I acquired them around the same time for a grand total of $650 :)

Ack. What is the point of screaming at the tendy? These games don't amount to sh** at the end of the day, after all. I don't mind good, physical play; goonery has no place, especially when 99/100 of you have to work the next day.

In the first video, I think you're kind of slicing it a bit too much. Like you're catching it mid-toe instead of heel-mid and not turning your wrists over to point the puck in the direction you want it to go. It got a little better with the regular pucks toward the end. Also, you're transferring your weight to the back leg then twisting instead of transferring from the back leg to the front leg. Think of it like putting all your weight on the bag leg and driving all that momentum through to the front leg and pointing the toe of the blade where you want it to go as you follow through. I was doing the basics of shooting with my JV kids the other day, most would transfer the weight back, but not forward or they wouldn't follow through with the stick. I'm definitely jealous of the amount of ice time you're getting to work on the basics of hockey. There's so much I wish I could work on. Keep up the great work!

I made my own to solve a lace bite issue, which it does, and for this reason alone they are worth more than gold to me. Subsequently I've made a bunch more for team mates and had a number of MSH members make them up, it's easy enough:- 4mm thick leather offcuts from a leather shop or manufacturer of leather items (or buy a leather belt and cut it up) 5mm - 7mm eyelets (also known as grommets) from online or a marine shop or a outdoor shop or home depot etc. Make sure you get brass or stainless steel or whatever, as long as they will not rust Either buy a hole punch or visit your local shoe repair shop to get the holes punched Waterproof the leather, add the eyelets using a hammer and punch (or a press if you are lucky enough to have one of these) Secure them to your boot using either old laces (the simplest way) or t-nuts / graf nut/screw etc or screws into the eyelets. You may think of another way. I prefer using laces as it gives a little more flexibilty and stretch to the extension than hard securing them in. Mine are coming up to 4 months of hard use and are still as good as the day I made them. PM me if you want a basic design outline and lacing pattern I use. Once you fit them you will keep using them, lace bite cure and forward flex extension and a custom eyelet pattern to how you want it.

Ever read "Confessions of a Crazy Hockey Parent" by Bob McKenzie? I happen to be re-reading it right now and am in the chapter where his youngest son sustains a career-ending concussion. I have to admit I saw too much of a parallel. I truly hope that her road ahead isn't bumpy for the long-term. I'm less worried about her hockey career and far more worried about her life and long-term well-being. Physically and emotionally. I am really glad you said that. I hadn't even considered it. I posted to get the situation off my chest, but the best suggestions come from unexpected places. I'm short on jerseys and its a pain to get a single one printed...but in the big picture, letting her keep it is so much the right thing to do. Thank you, my friend.

MT, when i saw you were posting HERE in the venting spot, i knew it couldn't be good. Everything i've read from your posts has been super positive. My prayers go out to her, her family, you and her team mates. I hope the road ahead is not as bumpy as it sounds right now. and um, i hope you let her keep the jersey. Fellow hockey players and parents: life is short and hockey is awesome--broken bones heal and we can live without a tooth or two--but please keep your head off the ice and out of the boards. Play hard, and respect your opponents' brains, too. We only get one.
