I still have to twist my foot a bit sideways in order to get my foot in, and I have rather skinny feet, cant imagine people with bulky feet trying them on.
-
uh, I searched, uh, didn't come up with anything and didn't feel like going trough 118 pages on my phone...uh
-
Ya, hopefully its wasnt too much trouble for you to write 10 words.
-
Can someone remind me if tuuks are compatible with the makos, the holes align properly?
-
I swore to never get another warrior stick because of their garbage blades, but hockey monkey deals are just too good to pass on sometimes. I got a couple of those for ~80$ shipped. 75 Flex Draper Lie 5. I remember paying close to 300$ a few years back for one.

why did you get a onesie? i guess to each their own
I thought those would disappear eventually, I guess not.
-
Not everyone gets mako bumps.

I know some would say that the pencil test is important. I am not sure that applies to the makos. I consider myself having a low volume, skinny foot, never experienced any lacebite.... Still I don't pass the pencil test on my makos, and it doesn't bother me at all either.

Surprised like the nexus and you can fit in the mako, its maybe the shallowest retail skate on the market
-
I am not sure about that. All the skates I have had, the tongues eventually compressed in one way or another to form my foot.
-
Yes very normal. Even for the skinny feet guys like me. I struggle sometimes to put them on even after baking them lol.
-
Well that sucks, hate it when manufacturers do that, but I guess business is business. Seemed like a popular curve too, but good on Sher-Wood for coming up with a Stastny Lie 5 curve.
Hopefully the EK15 2 comes out soon, so I can stock up on the clearance EK15 PP01 :)
-
Is the PP01 discontinued on just not on the new T120?

If you go 1 page back, you will see pictures showing that I had similar problem. The holders were misaligned. I had the skates replaced by the store I purchased them from.
The original pair had the same issue as yours, even worst Id say, one of the holders was way way off, I tried them and my foot was wobbling badly. This is a replacement that I waited 1 month for Easton to send it to me. I am not dealing with Easton anymore, I think its safe to say this is my last Easton anything. F***** Easton lol. That company will never change. I have never had to send any other skates brand in warranty...I think I had to send Easton skates 4-5 times in warranty in the last 2 years, they just fit my foot that well.

Quick two questions for you guys. Since my mako crapped out on me, i ordered myself another pair of mako 1s, but the heating instructions paper was not inside the box. Was it 10min for easton oven and 6 min non easton oven, at 200f?
Also, since it is almost impossible for easton to make a pair without defects, my holders are installed in a weird way. One is too far back , the other is too far in the front, theres maybe 1cm difference between both skates. Is it something to be concerned of, or its nothing that my body cant adjust to?
-
I owned the first makos, and had no issues besides the mako bump. I sent mine in for repair and they are sending me back mako 2's. If they decided to just send my first makos back, I wouldnt have been THAT disappointed. For the last month I wore them, I would shave my ankles and just put some regular stick tape over where it rubs and it seemed like an OK but not ideal solution. Besides the mako bump, what other reason should I be concerned with in regards to the first makos?
and I thought I was OK with using vapors just for roller - but the toe box problems are exacerbated by using them off ice (i think roller is harder on your feet). I really would like to get a used pair of mako ones, or mako m8's to convert to roller blades. If anybody wears a 7.5D and doesnt like their makos let me know!
Alright, Ill give you reasons. Boots would crack like no other skate, skates will comes with defects and lastly, the padding issue with the mako one. I am far from being a big guy but after numerous mako one skates, all the padding collapses way too early and kills your ankles.
I have seen the mako2 and m8 in person and the padding seems thicker, and its gen 2, so it should be better
-
I would stay away from the first makos and get the m8.

Mister Chris is a nice guy (even tho he is a leafs fan). He sold something breaking even with shipping just because he promised to.

We always will bake before purchase to allow the customer to ge the best fit before decision. Just today, I spent 1 hr baking, then molding a pair of Makos and a pair of Tacks for a customer. (They chose the Makos) Nevertheless, why would a shop spend the labor/time baking someone's skates they purchased elsewhere for free? We bake for free all skates purchased in our store, but if somone comes in off the street with skates they bought elsewhere, they have to pay for that service. Otherwise, what do I get out of it, a $2.00 roll of tape? The location you bought them should be doing the baking, if they don't, they shouldn't be able to sell the skates. Most stores in my area charge $50 to bake skates not purchased at their store, this seems to be the norm.
Why do some shops bake skates for free in the states then? They do not know how to run a business?
Who is 'we'?. Which store/franchise you work for?
But good on you for letting people getting a real feel of the skate before buying.
-
You guys are really lucky with the customer service in the USA, here in Canada, Quebec at least, never have i heard anyone allowing baking before buying. As far as i know some shops even bake for free, here we have shops that charge up to 50$ for baking if not purchased in store.

Easton seems to be plagued with durability issues when they come out with great fitting and performing skates (I guess most would agree on this) skates such as the s15, s17 and the mako. They did not improve much from the s15 to s17 but it looks like most issues are addressed with the mako 2, or I at least I hope for their sake. When they come out with great more 'traditional' skates which are amazing durability wise (EQ50, RS), people seem to ignore them.
-
The easiest thing to do is to give them a call and see what happens, they might help you since youre just over a month warranty, dont delay. Hopefully they can replace them for you with the new Mako 2 which supposedly has upgraded and more ankle padding....

Is that why you don't answer your pm's any more?

I have posted a picture a few pages back of my stock Mako's 7D, one skate was 860gr and the other 870gr, not sure if the pic is still up because of the site blackout.

That is with ~10 sharpenings already, must be even heavier new.
Oh well, it is what it is, I still like them A LOT, and I am sure skates will only become lighter.

^That bad? Looks like my next skate, I like it very tight, zero negative space.
