So I've been skating in my makos for about 4 months or so and I love almost everything about them. My agility and pivots are much better. But the one thing that bugs me is the radius and the holder. Not sure I love the angle of it. At top speeds and in front of the net I feel like I'm easily pushed off the puck or off balance more. Also it puts me more on top of my toes and makes it a little harder to use my stride from heel push to toe flick. Not a huge deal I just have to be aware of it. Might try and throw my old epro holders on there and see what happens

Big fan of drury and mild heel curves. What's the lie on this? Also do have Minneapolis reps?

If only they had my size. given how rare holders and runners are becoming for Easton, I might just go ahead and throw some tuuks on them now so that I can get used to them.

So ive had my makos for about 4 skates now. First two were just stick and puck, pretty chill 2 on 2 half ice games. My next two were faster leauge games and anytime i got going pretty fast i got a bad skate wobble. Not ankle wobble. Not sure if im still learning my edges in these skates or if i have a misaligned holder. Anyone else have this when switching to makos?
-
well when the wifey gets pissed about the 2 more pairs on their way im just going to say its your fault.

Had my first open ice time with the skates, and almost immediately crashed into the boards. My balance and weight distribution were way off. After about an hour of skating though i really got used to them. Low aggressive skating, good edge control and the comfort was unreal. So do i need to stock up on these or with easton bought by bauer is there a chance we see an equivalent skate in the future.

Finally got around to baking my m7s. Had my local shop do it at 200 degrees for 10min, and yeah they were like soft goey skates that wrapped my feet. After a day of cooling i tried them on again and yeah thats a nice fitting skate. Like others have said its like wearing sneakers. I put on my old ccm u10s for comparison and it made me realize how much extra volume i had in them. Now the question of whether i get used to the makos in a slow pickup game or use them tonight for the beer leauge summer playoff game.
-
Just got the m7s from ups today, laced them up and right away my first thought was 'how the hell am i supposed to get my feet in here?' once i put them on they are super form fitting and unlike any fit ive had. Almost claustrophobic. Couple pressure points, one at the arch and one by my pinkie toes. Gonna head to general sports and see what baking does.
-
Yeah similar issue. Went from a 7.5 in my old ccm vectors to the same size in the u10s. huge difference in volume, heel depth and length. Had to put in a second insole and use stable26 socks to fill negative space. Hopefully the makos will be a more contoured tight fit.

Picked up some m7s for $142 with free ship. Cant beat that
-
Awesome thanks for the input. Gonna snag a pair

Save some for the rest of us! Whats your foot shape like icewalker? I have a narrow heel and a low arch with medium volume. I know these are more narrow skates and when i tried on the mako m8 they killed my feet, but i heard after baking they are amazing.

Might be hard to pass up. Anyone tried the m7? Im in some ccm u10s right now but have always wanted to try out makos. Maybe as a backup skate

I use a savoy special and love it but the shaft is a bit boxy. Any chance of a shaft shape option?- 114 replies

Yes they still do offer tapered blades but not online, you have to call them to order.

Warrior Dynasty Grip Flex: 85 Curve: Kopitar Height: 5'8" Weight:170 Position: Forward Beer league Aesthetics: looks good as far as warrior sticks go. nice black with yellow highlights. Nothing crazy, but that's a good thing 9/10 Weight and Balance: Has good weight can tell you have something in your hand but still light. The balance is a little blade heavy but I am going to contribute that to the face that I had to cut almost 7 inches off the butt end. This stick is long. 7/10 Blade: Pretty good feel, not too pingy but maybe a touch less responsive than the dolomite that it replaced. Shots come off nice and accurate. 7/10 Shaft/ Flex: My favorite part about this stick. love the shaft shape, slight concave and rounded edges. feels perfect in your hand. not a huge fan of the slick grip but whatever. shaft loads up very easily and to me its a great balance of speed and power. sort of a jack of all trades stick. 9/10 Stickhandling/ Passing: Feel is good, handles the puck nicely, receiving passes is pretty good too, nothing like the feel of the t1 but it gets the job done 7/10 Shooting: I like the way this stick shoots. it is a low/ mid kick so its not as quick of a release but the ease of load and snappy but powerful shots are a nice feature. can take any type of shot with this and be confident of how it will react. 9/10 Durability: for me I didn't have any issues, I play center and its taken its share of hacks and aside from normal wear and tear no problems. shaft did loosen up after a month or so and got a bit whippy, but nothing else happened on my part. still going strong just moved it to a backup stick. 9/10 Conclusion: I would recommend this stick to anyone, especially if you can find it on sale. feels great and will do whatever you need it to do. my only gripe is that unlike the dolomite that this stick replaced it is made in Vietnam. If im paying for a high end stick I would like it to be at warriors main plant in mexico 8/10

Warrior KGB Flex: 85 Curve: kremlin Height: 5'8" Weight: 170 Age: 29 Position: RW/C Level: Beer league Time frame of use: 3 months Looks: This is the non grip stick and the graphics are a bit different from the grip version. Very loud. Girls, stars and bright blue are all over this stick. Im not a fan of the looks but i know there are a lot of people out there that like the warrior graphics. and it beats the dragons that were on my last dolomite so its got that going for it. 5/10 Weight and Balance: If you are coming from a high end stick it will feel pretty blade heavy(especially with the huge kremlin curve) but after a couple skates it feels pretty good balance is good for the price point. 7/10 Blade: I like the feel of this blade, i have been using dolos for a few years now and while this blade isnt as light, it does offer a very similar feel just slightly less responsive. no durability issues so far either. The curve on this stick deserves mention. it took a few skates of horrible shooting to get used to but now that im used to it im convinced its the perfect curve. great snap and accuracy off the toe, and the blade is long and flat on the backhand near the heel so you can still backhand pass and shoot pretty well. not to mention the stickhandling benefits. 9/10 Shaft/Flex: feels very comfortable i cant tell a difference between the kgb and my dolomite. I also really enjoy that warrior offers this stick in a clear gloss finish. Its becoming very hard to find. flex feels softer than an 85 even after i cut it down mabe 4 inches it still had a good amount of whip to it. For me its the perfect amount of whip. 10/10 Stickhandling/Passing: stickhandling is easy and takes no time to adapt to. passing for me is great on the stick. good on the backhand and easy to throw sauce too. 9/10 Shooting: this stick is great for shooting, the kremlin curve puts a lot or speed into your shot, snappers are hard and high every time. shaft loads up nicely and after 3 months still hasnt lost that new stick pop 9/10 Durability: So far no blade chipping or breakage. Its holding up extremely well. 9/10 Overall: For the price this is a great stick that is made in warriors high end mexico factory ( lower models are made in vietnam including the new dynasty) I bought this to try the kremlin curve out not really expecting much, but i have been pleasantly surprised by its performace. It is a discontinued stick so you can get them for super cheap now. stock up. 9/10
