Pants are AWESOME! I can see how the lighterweight fabric on the MAX pants would be better for those last minutes where it seems the world is weighing on you but im totally cool with these as they are soooo good.

so the long and short is i got both the Max (black&red) and Team (black Charcoal) pants today and was excited to try them on. One disclaimer though is from the promo photos and all the press leading up to it the Max in red and black showed black knees and a white crotch gusset. Inline Warehouse has it showing this in their pics (i believe alkali did have pics early on of it both being black) but they came with a white gusset and white knees (see hockeymonkeys pics of them) this isnt an issue for most, im not a fan of white bc to me its flashier and it dirties real easy but im not holding it against the pants. I actually called the alkali number to see if certain stores get a certain stock and it turned out to be a larger issue for them than just a color thing. I spoke to Stephen, and he was really a great help and was very apologetic for everything although none of it was my fault. what i noticed rigth away is that the pants feel light and thin but not at all flimsy or cheaply made. i would say both pairs of pants, together, weigh roughly the same as my current mission inhaler 10k pants which is pretty impressive. the stretch materials on the Max seem super thin and pliable, while wearing them it felt like nothing, legitimately nothing. but once again feeling the material it really earns the name of being a platinum premium material. I love the zipper fly though one concern is the zipper felt small and very light duty (once again not to be confused with flimsy) compared to my old missions and there was a flap behind the zipper that got caught in it even when zipping it up off my body. may just be a "me" issue but i would hate to have a stuck zipper after a game and have someone help me with my crotch. i also dont think it is the zipper or bad construction, i think the material is just so thin it gets in there easy. The Team pants and the one im going to stick with was just as impressive. the material was definitely a tad bit thicker and not as weightless as the Max's but it was still very free flowing and airy. i was concerned about not having a fly zipper but once adjusted i could easily get it off over my jock and cup by undoing one of the belt sides so no worries there. these pants did seem to fit my shorter stouter frame a little better but it may just be my imagination. The knees placement is pretty good, they could be a little higher for me but im also 5'7" with short legs wearing a large so this would be an issue with any pants i try, theyll be perfect for most. I did notice the legs were a little tighter than my missions (once again i have thick everything) even though alkali went to a looser fit its still not baggy. i usually dont like it tight at all but the material stretches so well that i can move easily and it clings to me a little better so its less likely to sag into the wheels. one thing to say about both the materials is that yes they stretch but they wont stretch easy to you pulling lightly on them, they will easily go with body movement and they dont seem to over stretch. to me that makes it seem like they are a bit more sturdy and will hold up in the long haul. I have to say both pants are impressive and ill look forward to writing more on the Teams after a couple of games, first one is tonight and we already had our bye weeks so it should be sooner than later.

Since the front is now dipped in it'll take much less adjustment.

I wore tours (also have a recessed wheels) for a short short time and the turning on that waaaaaaay outclassed my reeboks which were very straight with 80s. Surprisingly a much better "dig" on turns.

think the chassis itself is more than worth this year's models upgrade. I'm sure you have wheels and swiss bearings laying around from playing already as ell to drop in there.

Actually just looked at the team pants and they have no zip fly only the side adjusts. I have to say the zip fly makes getting in and out of the pants much easier and faster and you don't need to readjust them to get the right fit once yourlve found it. Not a deal breaker but a small downer. Edit: I see moat roller pants don't offer a zipper fly or anything in the front. Is there some disadvantage to it?

Tried on the comp pants and first went with a med since I wear that now in mission. The length was great but around the waist and junk area it was tight, no way to fit my jock and cup under it. The large was better, a little tighter in the rear but I think that's the cinch back that helps it stay up. In a ready position the gusset gave a little stretch and croutching over for a faceoff or to block a pass it really was stretching but it never slipped an inch. The length was a little too long and would threaten going in the wheels.but may be good with shins. I'm worried the knees would be too low and get ripped above the double patches and then I would be where I am now with my current pants. For me, a shorter legged guy whos 200+ lbs and a 36x30 pant size, pants are hard to fit perfect as I'm not a normal build I will say I really liked the pants, the sure fit works real well and is similar to what I have now. The comps don't.have the zipper and Velcro fly but the sides are easy enough to adjust it doesn't matter and I'm really looking at the team pants with the fly anyway. I was really impressed by the build quality and material choice. I felt like I couldn't bust the pants, everything stretched and had give, yet it was so lightweight and breezy. My legs were cold in store trying them on. And this is 2 steps away from their premium platinum. In store they looked and felt a step above everything else and only the top.of the line.bauers looked like they could compete. Over the next couple days Im going to.decide if I want the teams. I may order it in large and try it on at home in my gear to give me a true fir profile.

Ok going to try the pants today. I'm guessing the comps fit the same as the rest of the line as the store says that's the only one they have in stock.

Custom Glove Gallery (questions and answers)
Souldriver replied to elpresidente99's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
It takes time for them to redo their customizers. Moat are still older models but you get the construction of the current gen stuff. It's best to contact them about it. I'm not sure they knew their custom stuff would be so popular or they could of made the customized a bit more modular and easy to update. -
Maybe amity harbor sports. Or the skate safe pro shop. They are both alkali carriers

Saw a guy wearing the new rpd max skates last night and they looked quite good, I didn't ask.him about it.bc the team was a bit dick ish . A matter of fact that guy cross checked me in the back bc I won all my faceoffs against him. In front of the ref no less, no penalty was called.

Guitar stuff or what ever you play

Melody makers are supposed to be beat. Sounds like a good pickup if all checks out. If it's cherry red buy it for me. -

I would cross my fingers on the customized being updated on time more than the offerings being added. -

If you call warrior they have a limited customized for the luxe, they may have updated it for the dt1s but I'm not sure. It was a much more stripped down (zone 1 is color x, zone 2 is color y) type ordeal but it may be able to get the job done. If you're overwhelmed go to a LHS and ask.about the tapered gloves as it seems you prefer that fit and just try them on. If you're feeling adventurous try the 4 rolls and such as well. I used to be a size 14 and loved the tapereds, but I tried the wider/normal width warrior franchises in 13 and.they got much better. Used to think my glove getting stuck on the stick when I went to go grab a puck was normal but man, these are just so much free-er. -

i would go with their Luxe or their newer coverts as i believe they are tapered as well -
I've Een there before, the staff can be hit or miss. Btw did they have the new pants in stock? I heard of cozzis in Newbridge as well, got my last skate sharpening there.

I was wondering this myself. Wheels and bearings I can replace myself with what I already have and a mag frame isn't too big of a deal to me. But I was wondering what makes the boots different mostly stiffness wise. It seems the only boots lasting me lately are missions super stiff boots which I like a lot fwiw

Like I said best pants I ever had, and to me that generation of pants made the jump from cinch tie swishy pants to legit roller pants happen, for me at least. they truly are great and will be great backups. the reason why im looking for new ones is the elastic material in the left knee is completely;y gone and it has beem hooking onto the shinguard and moving it out of place. With my leg length the elastic took a lot of the damage when i dove instead of the double knees :/ But if those were designed by you i cant wait to take a look at the new lineup and see how far things manifested. On a side note, not sure if you did the lower end pants of that year but a couple of my team mates still are repping their 7500 and theyre all in good shape and their elastic patches arnt nearly as beat up as mine. but we all play multiple games a week at a competitive/semi-competitive level

Thanks Justin. Although the max pants look premo I'll try the Teams as I need to buy some ice pants as well. I'll let you know how they are but I do have high hopes. But I will say that the helium 10000 pants I got on clearance years ago will be hard to beat, not sure if you were with them back then but they were really well designed.

Didn't they ban those heated blades as well with the reason being they help you go too fast and would increase injuries?

Sounds more like an oil used to keep any type of oxidation off. Even if its not blatant rust oxidation occurs immediatly at even a small level that does effect things. one of the secrets of ancient Japanese swords is the fact they coated them in a way no one knows that prevents pretty much all of the oxidation and keeps the blade extremely sharp. But this is on ice, I think the time would be better used making the metal super smooth and decreasing friction there. But then again there is only so much that will do.

Justin, So i decided to take a dive into the Alkali family for the first time but since im set for skates i decided to give your pants a try. mine right now are serviceable but i really like the look of the black and charcoal rpd team pants (the max electric looks great too but its a niche color but give credit where credit is due) but before i buy i have questions. -I currently have Mission Helium 10,000 pants in a senior medium and they fit great except if it wasnt for the built in shin straps the bottoms threaten going into the wheels. And despite my larger size I also have really old cinch string missions (from the same era of the vibe chassis) and they are small. they fit fine (im wearing them now for house lounging and regularly for pick up games) but are tight once i have my jock and shins on. What size RPD pants would you recommend? BTW for what its worth I wear both pants below the waist on my hips - Besides design whats the difference between the MAX and TEAM pants? the only thing i see in specs is the material but how does that differ between the two, one more ventilated/stretchy/durable/weight etc. - on InlineWarehouse they say both have dual knees 1680 outside and 210 inside. Is that correct? i ask bc is says all of the new line has dual knees but on the alkali site it lists only the team and max with them. Thanks for your time Justin. Im going to try to find them local but i dont have high hopes. only 1 store around here carries alkali and theyre very limited and their staff is less than stellar,
