  1. Is looking after your kids really that hard to do?

Dad came in to get two pairs of skates sharpened. As I was doing them, his two little rats were running around like crazy, screaming nonsense the whole time, and just being royal pains in the ass. Grabing sticks, trying gloves on their heads, playing with the skate oven, laying out pylons all over the place...

...and dad didn't flinch. Instead, he chose to text on his phone, or just ignore them completely.

    Grrr.

With the shop being inside the rink, that is when I show the kids where the lobby is, with or without Daddy.

This hasn't been mentioned in a long time: the knuckleheads who bring their oversized equipment bag into the shop to take their skates out for sharpening. Nothing is happening until that bag goes outside the shop. "I'm sorry, sir but if I let one bag in here than everyone wants to bring their bag in here. And we just don't have the room for everyone's bag." ;)

  2. Including shipping via UPS from NJ to FLA, a tick under $200. I have to charge sales tax in NJ, it's 7%. I also am set up to do custom Warrior gloves but they are really pricey, IMO. I think the better buy is Eagle. I also received a second pair today of X70 gloves that I am letting the buyer share here once he receives them. His pair is pretty different, in terms of color, that is. BTW, each pair I show here is designed by the buyer. Give props to the guys who go through with their ideas. The PPFs I did for myself a few months ago are my #1 gloves right now. They are awesome. Props to Eagle, too!!

  3. Funny you should ask about CP94 gloves. I had a request for CP94 gloves this week. Here is Eagle's answer:

"With regards to these gloves that your customer is looking for, the model has actually been discontinued. Unfortunately, we will not even do this as a custom order. I apologize for the inconvenience.

You can let him know that these gloves were actually a Sr. 14” model (by our guidelines). It was never offered in a 13”, and we do not have the patterns necessary to produce these."

Eagle is referring to the CP94 gloves on EWH.com. They are advertised as 13", but I guess, they're not!

  4. When I finally got an ipod and found all the music I missed in the last billion years, I got into

Tragically Hip- these guys drive me crazy, go Gordon

Bare Naked Ladies- ok, I know it's another band that's been around for a long time but NYC FM radio sucks, as if Led Zeppelin was the world's only rock band and U2 is like, new.

    The Strokes

Sam Roberts- Hard Road from listening to Pandora.com

Lucinda Williams-woman has a voice like bourbon; smooth, mellow and dangerous

Band of Horses- careful if you OD on this sound you'll lose sleep

Kings of Leon- I want to meet their parents

Modest Mouse- whether they sing or scream, it's usually pretty good

I'll take note of some of the bands mentioned here and check them out. Thanks

  5. Hey Guys

For the past 10 to 6 years or so I have been skating in Bauers, the Vapor line i particular. They have been great for me but the XXXX last year gave me huge ankle problems on both of my legs to the point where I couldnt really put the skate on my foot. I was wondering wheter anyone knows if the the X60 or X50 are better for ankle problems than the XXXX's and if not what skate would you recomend for better more comfortable ankle protection? Thanks a lot

Ever have the ankles punched out or re-bake the boot?

  6. Both the X60 and XXXX fit me like a glove. Can anyone comment if the X60 is really worth the extra cash over the great price on the xxxx's right now? I have XXV's, gonna put em on the bay and prob upgrade to the XXXX.

I really like the tweaked more forward position on the X60's, the ankle pads, as compared to the XXXX's

New liner is cool but this is not that big of a deal to me.

Just wanted someones 2 cents on these X60's. Dude, 600 bones compared to 349 is a big difference.

Any feedback from former XXXX skaters.....Would you do it all over again and get another pair of 60's or just stick with the XXXX's for a sick price.

Buy the XXXX at that price. Take the extra cash and buy another OPS. Going from XXV to XXXX will be a smooth smart transition. You could always drop the extra dough on the X:60 but best bang for your buck is XXXX on sale price.

  7. There was never any reason to sugar coat that glove when the rep showed it to me. It was a piece of junk the minute I saw it. If Easton couldn't make OPS they would have absolutely nothing going for them in the hockey business. Their weaknesses in protective equipment are getting worse every season. And if RBK/CCM wasn't such poor competition for #2 in the skate business, Easton skates would have no representation in the marketplace either.

  8. Glad to hear positive feedback on early reviews of the liner. The dual materials used at the top for wear combined with the Hydra Max liner are a great combination. The more durable liner at the top is such a no-brainer for interior skate construction. The idea actually came from one of the guys in the St. Jerome skate testing team.

  9. I just did these for a member here. Good old Hartford Whalers in Tuff-Tek PPF + with mesh gussets.

I talked to Eagle last week. The website is being re-designed since there were items on the old website that were no longer available. They are still taking custom orders for gloves.

  10. I know. Must be nice JR, must be nice.....

Not sure if anyone else is in this boat, but one of the items I'm quite excited about is the X:60 jock. Mine is starting to fall to shambles and could really use a new one lol.

Once Bauer bought Itech, they made a decision not to go forward with the X:60 jock. The catalog was already in production so the X:60 jock was not removed. I just checked my booking order worksheet. The X:60 jock was not on the worksheet. I was not able to order it. If any dealers were able to get it, let us know. Thanks.

  11. I found this old pic from 1991. The Bear Mountain Bears of Highland Falls were playing the Rangers Alumni at USMA, West Point. Ron Greschner has just given Pierre Larouche the home run pass from the goal line. That would be me, #2, stuck in the mud at the blueline!

Of course, Larouche buried the biscuit.

  12. Just sent out two custom XXXX orders yesterday. One player went from a #3 stiffness which he really beat up on in his last pair of custom XXXX, to a # 4 stiffness. The other player went for a #3 stiffness. We had to do black eyelets as they are extra long and with reinforced eye row/eyelets, the black eyelet was our only choice. We asked for the Selanne style 2nd top eyelet mssing on the #4s, too.
