  1. I believe I may have the same issue as you, had both Mako and Mako II. Both of the skates caused rubbing in this area and eventually caused a scar there now.. This is my right foot which is very obvious, left foot is not as bad.. Guess Makos just didn't work for me so I've gone back to Bauer MX3 now, better quality and less problems
  2. I've had both the Mako I and Mako II, I find myself more stable when I skate low with knees more bent.. Due to work I didn't skate for 2 month, then when I got on the ice again I stumbled twice in 5min as I totally lost the forward stance feeling that you need with the Mako. After 10min later you'll be fine as you get use to it and what body position you need to get the most out of these skates.. Great skates and definitely no other skate can match its comfort, but quality was a problem I encountered with both Mako I and II so I'm back to Totalone MX3 now..
  3. Thank you for the comments guys, This is by far the best looking skate I've owned. I wanted something more stealth looking and a little different, kinda wish BlackEdge make runners for them then I can even make the blade black.. lol Just had it baked at a skate shop today, fitting was great. Guys at the shop were a little surprised to see them as they are not available in Australia! :) I've gone from Bauer Nexus 200 -> Bauer Totalone NXG -> Easton Mako -> Easton Mako II and now back to Bauer Totalone MX3 LE The Bauer skates I had before never had a issue, but the Makos just felt so comfortable like no other that I couldn't resist trying. After using the Mako and Mako II for short period I ran into quality issues with them, hence why I am back to Bauer and will most likely never to try Easton again. Mako skates are great being most comfortable skate ever, but if quality doesn't hold up it really means nothing to me!
  4. Super excited these arrived today! :) Bauer Totalone MX3 LE..
  5. Has anyone had issues with the Mako II other than heel lock issues?? my first few skates were great but after that I've notice I got the heel lock issue as well, which didn't happen on the first Mako which I had.. Also a few tiny metal rings from the inside of the eyelet has fell out on the Mako II, quite disappointed to see this on a top of the range skate! :( I'm most likely going back to Bauer TotalOne MX3 as I don't feel confident with Easton's quality anymore..
  6. I had my first skate in my Mako II last week, immediately you can feel the liner material is more firm than Mako especially the ankle padding has being greatly improved as the first Mako is known to have the ankle padding broken down (which was what happened to my Mako). The area that caused Mako bump has being improved as well, can feel additional support in that area which has fixed the issue. The new tongue is definitely more thicker than the first Mako, I feel its more flexible and responsive as well. Quarter package feels a little more stiffer than Mako as well, but I think time will tell as you get more skates in. Fitting wise its all the same as Mako, still the most comfortable skate ever!
  7. Stiffness felt the same between mako and mako II..
  8. Update on this, I took my Mako Skate back to the shop I bought it from.. They felt the ankle padding and immediately could tell the padding had collapsed to no ankle support at all, the other foot was close to being this bad as well! Skaters Network in Sydney is biggest Skate shop here and their service is always on the top, they replaced me with a Mako II which very lucky happen to be my size (which was their only pair they received, stock is coming end of this month) Initial thoughts on Mako II compare with Mako, had them baked straight away and once I put my foot in I can feel the padding and tongue is a lot thicker compared with Mako. Fitting is exactly the same but padding material has definitely improved from the first Mako and the new thicker tongue is even more comfortable as well! :)
  9. Lately my mako has being hurting my ankle on left foot.. I checked today and found out the ankle padding was fully flat to the side wall. I check my other foot and the ankle padding is not far off from being totally flat to the wall as well. I've did some research on this issue, but as I'm from Australia I'm not quite sure what to do. I've only had the skates for around 4 month with about 25 skates (2hours each time). Has anyone gone straight to Easton and what was the outcome? I plan to take it to the place I bought it (skaters network) in Sydney tommolo to see what can be done. Worst case scenario I will go back to bauer skate as I feel the quality of Easton skates are just a bit shocking.. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks heaps as I'm pretty frustrated to what to do..
  10. Can't wait for the Mako 2 to come out, is there a official release date?
  11. Any idea if BlackEdge Runners will be available for Mako CXN Holder soon?
  12. Cosmic.. I am exactly the same as you! I was 7.5D in my Bauer Totalone NXG before, but in my Mako I'm 8D.. definitely need to try these skate on to make sure size is correct before buying
  13. Went to my LHS to buy something and out of interest tried a few skates..ended up buying a Mako in 8D, my previous skate is TotalOne NXG 7.5D I tried the Mako in 7.5D first, but the toe area was really cramped hurting both my big and little toe. Once I tried the 8D it was perfect in every area, note this was before it was even baked. This is the first time I tried Mako and was happy with my current TotalOne NXG fit, though in the NXG I find there's a little of empty space in the toe cap and forefoot area.. I put Superfeet insoles to fix this but it only helped a little not all. As for the Mako fitting it has successfully solved this issue for my fitting, zero negative space from toe to heel even with stock insoles and yet it felt alot more comfortable than my TotalOne NXG. In terms of volume wise, before I tried the skate I was under the impression that it was low volume like Bauer Vapor line. But once I put it on my feet the volume is pretty much the same with my NXG skate, if you are interested in this skate I must suggest you to put it on cos for me it was a amazing feel which made me pull the trigger and buying it. For me I like a really snug fit so I love how the Mako hugged my foot so much, only thing I find annoying is putting on and taking off the skate since the skate is such a snug fit. I don't find this an issue, just need to loosen you laces more and get use to it. I don't mind trying new products, overall quality of the skate looks good but time will tell. I had some stitching coming undone on my TotalOne NXG after 2 month of use so I'm interested to see how the Mako will hold. Can't wait to try these skate, but I feel the break in period should be a breeze compared to my NXG which gave me a painful period when new!
