  1. HELP.

Need some objective help regarding my recent new hockey skates.

    Recently bought some NEW skates:

     - Bauer Supreme 1s - skate size 8.5 from my lhs.

    my foot size is 11.5.

8.5 is the smallest hockey skate I have ever owned. I decided to go this small because:

    1. wanted the tightest fit possible

    2. works for my foot size (1 foot)

    3. To help improve my stride, skating and efficiency.

the 8.5 fits very snug, ankle was locked. Right skate - Toes brushed the front (smaller foot). Left skate - My big toe pushes hard against the end of the boot (bigger foot) when I go into my hockey position, that big toe moved back about 3mm which was still brushing but helped.

decided to buy them knowing they will break in slightly and it will hurt during this process. I skated/played hockey once since buying for 90 minutes and my left big toe hurt the entire time to the point of being numb and affecting my skating. It has been one day and my toe is still numb.

I am concerned. My time is limited. Do I really want to wait 20+ hours for breakin, possibly also having to punch/stretch out the left boot?

The right boot feels perfect with pain at size 8.5. The left is the issue.

What if the left doesn't give me anymore room after breakin?

I baked them - did very little.

I wear a very thin sock, I have tried with no socks and toe still pushes.

Should I endure this pain, hoping they will break in and give me more length? I should check with the lhs - they did offer to do what is needed if I feel any pain. But what can they do?

my left toe still hurts over 36 hrs later. I realize I have only skated once but i had a tremendous amount of pain on the ice to my big left toe.

I hate to say it but I may have to buy a new pair of skates size 9 - wearing the left skate as size 9 and the right skate as size 8.5.

I can't return them because the skates have been baked and sharpened even though I have only skated once?

Ultimately I have to hope that my lhs can help me with the left skate getting longer by stretching or endure the pain by breaking in/hoping the left skate will give 3mm or buy a new pair using only the left skate and getting a price break on the new pair.

Any suggestions or advice or wisdom would be much appreciated.

    Thanks

    Rocco
