  1. Had my first skate yesterday on the 2s pros and boy are they amazing. Super light compared to the 190 and more support. I almost fell when I stepped onto the ice which I attribute to either a bad or stock profile (I told the rep the specs of my previous profile and who knows if it’s correct). I had to really lean forward to counteract the feel of being on my heals and falling backwards. And it’s true what the reviews say to go down a hollow. I normally get 5/8 and I nearly launched my self trying to stop cuz of so much bite. I had to ease up a bit when stopping. Doing tight cuts and turns was something I couldn’t do previously but now it’s no problem. Not sure if it’s cuz of the sharp blades or the better support or both. Due to a navicular bone on my right foot I found it starting to hurt about half way through the game and I little bit of pain on the side of my pinkie toe. Is there a way for me address this at home rather than going back to the store? Heat gun/hair dryer on that particular spot inside and outside of the boot using the True tissue method?
  2. Thanks mojo that info was never explained to me while trying on the skates. The sales rep even said my left foot was slightly longer than my right and sized me according to the smaller foot. I wonder why the rep never offered that option? That 0.25 might make a world of difference cuz as it stands now my left foot touches the front of the toe box but my right one skims it when in the proper stance. Would skate shops take back the brand new unused skate but sharpened blade in return to going custom? Or am I SOL?
  3. Too bad they don't have one here 😞
  4. Would the pencil test help me in determining if the SF is good or not visually cuz when I tried the skates on pre and post bake it felt fine. But visually I don't know. Or are there other ways to determine this?
  5. Bit the bullet and picked up the 2s pro and you're right the sales rep recommended to have the SF carbon pro insoles. But according to a SF rep it doesn't add too much to the volume of the skate Sine SF has a 60 day comfort guarantee I'll give them a try. If it doesn't work I'll have to rebake them and try the SP 2.0. Didn't go custom on the 2s pro since the sales rep said my feet weren't too wonky and the extra cost would've been a waste. Although I'm concerned about the injection molded lace holder cracking/breaking like I've seen on other models I hope it doesn't happen to me. Oh and it surprised me that they were on sale and no one even mentioned it until I got the bill 🙂
  6. But do they function the same (cup the heal/support/performance/comfort/etc) or does one out perform the other? I'm getting mixed info indicating the superfeet enhances your skating but the sp 2.0 just adds support.
  7. Great thanks. Are they the same as superfeet carbon pro insoles or totally different product features?
  8. The new laces helped but I found that I would need to re-tighten my skates every so often which I didn’t have to do with the waxed laces 😞 Any info out there about the new speed plate 2.0 insoles? I have custom sidas currently and wonder if the new speed plates would be just as good.
  9. Went to my LHS and picked up a pair of Howies laces. Will give them a go this Friday and see if it helps. 👍 I was talking to one of the managers there about the 3 brands I’m looking at (they carry all 3) and I think I’m going to stick with Bauer since that is what I’m used to. Although I was really into getting the True skates he even mentioned that getting it to fit right is very tedious and time consuming. With the “new” eyelets on the 2s pro how durable are they? On my 190 I’ve had to replace the 2 top ones on both skates. Also doesn’t/didn’t the 1x/1s/mx3 have the same eyelets which eventually broke? If they do how would you fix it since it’s not a regular eyelet where you can remove the broken one and pop in a new one.
  10. I couldn't see any wide laces. Are you referring to these? https://howieshockeytape.ca/collections/cloth-hockey-skate-laces/products/white-cloth-hockey-skate-laces
  11. I actually have the 190 not last year's s190. Are they built the same? You might have something there in regards to the laces. I have waxed oval laces which are pretty much like thin ropes now. I'll try changing back to regular wide waxed laces to see if that helps. I think my sizing is/was correct since it passes the pencil test and isn't overly loose or tight. I do have a weird right foot with "extra" bones and bumps. The skates felt good when initially baked. So I'm hoping if I go the custom route that it would take care of my weird foot and provide me better comfort and skating experience.
  12. Thanks guys for your suggestions and info. I tried doing the lacing as per the video below with a little success. But I still felt slight pain. As for the pencil test, I actually pass it with adequate space. So most likely the boot is breaking down. Of the 3 brands, which custom skate would be the best for resolving these issues?
  13. Hi Everyone, I currently have the Bauer 190 skates for almost 3yrs. They fit quite well but in the last few games I've developed a mild case of lace bite on one foot and there are some hot spots starting to hurt my feet. I've tried different solutions to remedy the lace bite but it still is ineffective. Any reason why it's happening now after almost 3yrs with no issues? I'm thinking about getting new skates to combat these issues, mainly custom skates (True, Bauer 2s Pro, CCM AS1). These will probably be my last pair of skates I will need to buy since I shouldn't have to worry about pain issues and durability. Of the three models which one would be better in terms of fit/comfort and longevity? Although it would probably make sense to stick with the Bauer's would the other two be better? tia
  14. Really tempted to try these out. Currently in a Bauer Supreme 190 8D size for a year. Would the Super Tacks be the same sizing? I have a navicular accessory bone on my right foot and from reading past posts this boot is very responsive to heat molding. What about heat molding with a heat gun/hair dryer to target that specific spot and then punching it out with the butt end of a screwdriver ala diy :) ?
  15. Really liking these new skates and the tech that comes with them. Currently have the Supreme 190 and although they fit well/snug (size 8D) and have a bit of rubbing on the front part of my ankles (red circle in pic) I'm always looking for something better :) Would these be much wider than the Supremes? And would it solve the rubbing on the front of my ankles?
  16. Looking to switch it up and grab the quicklite shoulders and elbows, coming from HD1's. Is there really a justification in price between the 290's and top of the line ($60 b/w the shoulders and $30 b/w the elbows)? I know it comes down to features here and there but if it doesn't add much value in performance or protection then the 290's seem the better product.
  17. Are the wheels that come in the kit good for asphalt or should they be replaced with something like Labeda Asphalt wheels?
  18. Bumping this thread as I'm thinking of picking up a set. Can these be mounted on any ice hockey skate because the ones I have are fairly old (Bauer Supreme Comp) and the outsole has a bit of a carbon composite material (if that makes sense).
  19. I have the 190, which is close, in size 8 and I use the shim. Initially I didn't but if you see my post earlier in the thread I added it after and have not been happier :)
  20. Just a quick question on the z palm gloves......looking at getting the xc9 but heard that you should get one size down from current gloves. I have 14" Bauer MX3's so should I get 13" xc9?
  21. Just a little update on my experience so far with the inserts. During my first game/skate the feeling of the inserts were snug and I could move my toes minimally as per instructions. Felt great. But the second game I had, which was a week after, the inserts felt as if they had compressed and I could move my toes more so than initially (the base of my toes towards my feet still felt snug). I thought this was just my imagination so I paid more attention to it the following game and I was correct. I informed Mike from Adrenaline Design about my issue and he spoke to Rob (founder/inventor) about it too. My installation was correct with a very minor gap (front of toe box to insert) in my right boot so Rob suggested to cut ¾” off the shim and insert it to see if that filled up some of the space at the front of the toe box. Indeed it did. Now the fit is nice and snug and my skating has improved more so. Thanks again to Mike and Rob for their support in finding a solution to my problem.
  22. Ok.No they were not damp. As I play roughly once a week, they were left with the tongue/boot open as wide as possible, like I always do, to air/dry out for a week. When I put them on that night I just felt they weren't as tight or full like it did the first time.
  23. Hi Mike, After only one game with the inserts I found that the "snugness" in the toe box to be quite a bit less when I played my second game with them. I could wiggle my toes more so now than before. I inspected them by inserting my hand into the boot and feeling the insert. I felt as though they weren't as thick or puffy like they were at the beginning. Do they compress a bit after every use making them thinner? Any suggestions to "puff" them back up?
