  1. I see both sides of the argument but me living in a hockey desert, I think it's fantastic. I was fitted by a store manager at a major retailer for my True skates and they still had to remake the pair. I think cutting out the store (and people who may or may not know their ass from a whole in the ground) is great, especially for people like me who have all kinds of foot and and ankle issues that I wish I could have been fitted like this with True. I also live in a state with literally two places you can buy hockey gear. One, is very good for repairs and things like this, the one five minutes from my house literally doesn't have a single person working in there that has ever played hockey so I would never in a million years trust them to fit me for custom skates, even if they offered it (they screw up Sparx sharpenings). I had to plan and schedule my True fitting when I was several states away for work. For those of us that don't live in Minnesota or Ontario, this is a welcomed innovation.
  2. Looks like Tackla is having a sale in case anyone who belongs to the big & tall lifestyle needs some pants: https://www.tackla.com/shop/tackla-pro-9000-nhl-hb-z-hockey-pants-sr-jr-black-12556-black.html?___SID=U
  3. I'm sure it affect sales amongst youth players wanting to look like their favorite player but I doubt it has any affect on adult beer leaguers. But I did buy Callaway clubs since I'm a Phil Mickelson fan and also left-handed, though...
  4. CCM bought Step so I doubt that they can get their hands on it for a reasonable wholesale price.
  5. If anyone needs some big pants on the cheap, these popped up on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/174362949407
  6. Has anyone seen what sizes and widths would be offered with the retail models? I haven't found that info anywhere.
  7. Our rink reopened yesterday, played last night. I forgot how much I missed it.
  8. I forgot about moving the tongue. That will help eliminate negative space on the top of the toes, if that is the issue. If you want the tips of your toes to touch the toe box, True usually will tape in some space pads. They should be able to ship you some if you need those. If not, I may still have mine in my box of hockey junk.
  9. Try rebaking them and then do the shrink wrap (or whatever the stuff is called) technique. The video on how to do it is buried in this thread somewhere. That should help with issues in the heel and ankle area; don't have any tips for the toe box as I had the opposite issue.
  10. Bay Area Hockey Repair can do it.
  11. I've made that suggestion before; that is @JR Boucicaut's call...
  12. If you have arch pain, I would recommend doing the cut out method on the red insole. I actually use two red insoles and the blue one. I cut out the arch on the bottom red insole and use an intact red insole and blue on top. I needed the extra cushion of a second red insole as I found the footbed too hard and uncomfortable without the second red insole. You can email their customer service and request additional insoles of both types, if desired.

  14. No, you want to get the shrink wrap stuff on a handle that you can find at any home Depot or moving supply joint.
  15. Flair out your eyelet cuff as stated above with a heat gun and I also use the next size up on laces so I can get in and out of my skates without having to fool with that. So if you you usually use 105" laces, get some 120".
  16. They no longer make the 3xl Nexus so you're only option without searching far and wide for a used pair of Tacklas or ordering a pair from Finland is Bauer S29. If you read the description, it says it's the same fit as the discontinued Nexus...

  19. I had pain in my arches as I needed Nexus due to size of my feet but I have flat feet so I was always in pain. Been good in my Tried after dialing them in.
  20. This popped up on Sideline Swap if anyone is in need of a giant helmet. https://sidelineswap.com/gear/hockey/hockey-helmets/1198465-ccm-new-blue-large-11k-helemt
  21. This popped up on Sideline Swap if you're still looking for a giant lid. https://sidelineswap.com/gear/hockey/hockey-helmets/1198465-ccm-new-blue-large-11k-helemt
  22. Does anyone have the updated instructions for baking their skates? I saw a video somewhere of SVH showing how to do it now with keeping the top eyelets unlaced and using shrink wrap but can't find it anywhere. I'd like to rebake my skates tonight if someone has a link to that video or has an updated set of instructions.
  23. It's probably fine. I wouldn't ship anything from HF. Most people in the US live relatively to close one and with their usual 20% off coupon, could have gotten it for like $7.
  24. If you live in the states, you can get a roll of the wrap pretty cheap at Harbor Freight: https://www.harborfreight.com/5-in-x-1000-ft-high-performance-stretch-wrap-61519.html
