  1. Guessing their preconscious will be something like, 'their (sic) not bauer's'
  2. I love the white. When do you get to skate on them?
  3. I'm curious, how do the VH boots feel to skate in compared to the --5s from Graf, also, how high is the boot cut compared to those. 705s were the best fit I ever had, and I've been unable to skate in anything higher cut ever since, but I'm really intrigued by VHF.
  4. It's an interesting thought, but they don't look symmetrical, top or bottom.
  5. Seeing more and more Winn. Jets in these skates.
  6. Good to hear about the custom footbeds with thermoplastic-base boots, I had been wondering about that, but I couldn't remember anyone mentioning that combination at all.
  7. Yes, it looks like a high heel on TV.
  8. To dig up an older question in this topic, why aren't more pros using them, I'm seeing a lot more of these on NHL / KHL players; nothing that rivals Bauer or even CCM-Reebok numbers, but I'd guess more are wearing them than used to wear Easton skates.
  9. Really really like the white, black, composite, chrome balance in all that the more I see it...the holder and steel just makes my eye circulate very pleasantly about the whole. Anything odd about your foot in that spot? Maybe it was triggered by your foot measurements.
  10. I like the white. What's with the added composite section just behind the toes?
  11. I remember it being tricky last time I did it. I think I just went through with clicking the "change" prompt on the image in my profile.
  12. The more I hear the more excited I am about this skate. But, then, don't you think an avatar change is in order @GiancarloSFL?
  13. Sweet. Have you skated on them? How do they feel?
  14. That's a really nice looking skate, especially with the CF outsole--how did you get that, is it an option with Graf customs?
  15. GiancarloSFL, thanks for the new photos! It's an interesting tendon assembly. Also, I love how the shots of the middle to top eyelets show just how form fit the wrapping of the boot is to your foot. I love the feeling of broken in wrapping like that on my Graf boots...this new look has me even more interested in these.
  16. Man, that sounds uncomfortable, bet it feels nice now. It may not be pretty but it's easy to forget right away. I had the same reaction when I got my Vapor 8's punched way out to accomodate my heel shape and the nasty Haglund's I had developed from not knowing how to fit skates when I started playing. The shots you took of the skate are amazing. That frontal shot really shows how much the boot wraps, and I can see much better now how it locks you in with very little lacing pressure. I'm really curious about the inside of the boot heel/tendon guard area. Teasingly, it's just out of frame on shots 5 and 6; could you take a shot of that area? Also, how high does the boot come on your ankle compared to your previous skates?
  17. I see what you mean. That's frustrating. Hopefully it gets better from here. If I were in that situation, I'd be thinking the same thing, about making a swap.
  18. Yeah, it sounds like you've given it a fair shot. I'm curious though, when you're rolling edges, do you mean you're hitting the holder and losing your edge when turning, or does it feel like the edge just doesn't hold for the same hollow and radius?
  19. The steel is supposed to take more to get its first edge (I think Chadd posted this), but once it's there, it's supposed to hold that edge really well. Maybe it needs a more thorough sharpening?
  20. True, but (showing my work below...) I just remember $1000 for complete custom skates from the first word from SVH. I guess that meant with the holder+steel, so they're -$100 from that earlier projection. With custom speed boots at $1500 (and the old video featuring margarine molding saying $1200), it just seemed like $800 was a deal.
  21. Jaw dropped--I was expecting more expensive for customs. Sweet.
  22. Yeah, I'm still interested in these too. I'd gladly take a Lagerfeld over what other companies have been putting out. Seriously though, I'm excited about the recent speed skate technology and knowhow bleeding over into hockey, and I'll definitely get a pair of VH boots if I can afford to later this year. I'm excited to see how these play for people.
  23. The more I look at these, the harder it is to resist the notion that Karl Lagerfeld contributed to their cosmetics.
  24. MLX and Scott Van Horne have videos on how to do this on YouTube too.
