No big deal but I found these Easton gloves in a sale box for $10.00. They had been part of a dispaly in a glass case for years and were in new condition but pretty dusty. I kind of like the way they look with my Vectors. Rick

I love the 795 Tacks.... My Tacks collection includes: 552 Tacks with Red Star/Sherwood E-Frames (old style heel lock like Chelios) 655 Tacks with Sprung chassis (old style heel lock) 652 Tacks with Sprung chassis (1998 version I think) 752 Kevlar Tacks with T-blades (the green kevlar version) 755 Kevlar Tacks, roller version with Sure-Grip chassis. Fatwabbit, You certainly have a bunch of sweet looking conversions. How do you decide which ones to skate? Rick- 2845 replies

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion

Sprungs are just the best. I have tried a bunch of chassis and thought I had found the ultimate set-up with Red Star but when I went to the Sprungs I knew I could never go back. My boys still skate rigid chassis and I like the looks of several of the rigid chassis offerings but I won't go back. Rick- 2845 replies

I still have a pair of 552 Tacks with the black Sherwood/Redstar E-Frames. The thing I like about them over other hi/lo set-ups is how close to the surface you ride in a pretty neutral pitch. A nicely built and attractive frame. Rick- 2845 replies

I really dig the green/red gloves also. I have always liked the gloves with unusual colors. I bought a set of Cooper leather pro stock gloves years ago that are bright yellow and chocolate brown with white trim but I have never been able to find out what team they were made for. Possibly minor or college I guess. Rick

I love the green E-Frames chassis. Before I switched to Sprungs my E-Frames were my favorite set-up. I have the silver version and the black Sherwwod E-Frames and I have seen the gold version they made for Easton but those are really cool. Nice Skates and welcome. Rick- 2845 replies

Not trying to hijack the thread but a while back we got a new sporting good store in our area that actually carries hockey gear. It was cool at first and I bought a few small things like laces, pucks, tape and even a couple of cheaper wooden sticks but for the most part they have lower level gear and the prices are about the highest I have seen for example $75 bucks for a $49 dollar helmet/cage combo (anywhere online) . I would like to support a local operation but I am not going to buy low end gear at mid to high end prices. The funny thing is I was at the store the other day and an employee said that they were considering not carrying hockey gear next year because it wasn't selling very well. I told him that the prices are just too high and told him that most guys I know order online and he acted mad about that and said that the online companies are killing the business. I can understand when the shops get mad because guys come in to get sized and try on skates and then order online because they can get the skates cheaper but the truth of the matter is I would buy more from them but when I can get better gear at a lower price even after paying shipping and handling thats what I am going to do. This might make shop owners mad but I work for my money just like everyone else. Rick

Love the look of those gloves Fletch but man my first car in 1983 didn't cost $300 and it was a classic. A 1972 grey primered Grimlin with AM/FM sterio and like 70 or 80 thousand miles on it. But honestly I would rather have the gloves. Just bustin your chops those are cool. Rick

Custom Skates / Ice to Inline Conversion

I still have the Tacks for sure. Everything I have converted to Sprungs I did with T-Nuts and bolts so I can take the chassis off and put it on something else then put it back on whenever I want. I have like 4 sets of skates with the T-Nuts still in place and no chassis so all I have to do is switch the Sprungs from one boot to another. Still gotta love those Tacks...... Rick- 2845 replies

My brother still wears his Bauers like those and he still skates in his Bauer Pro Comp RH skates also. I always loved the looks of those skates but the arch killed my wide flat feet. Rick Henry

Thanks, Its a Taperwall and I have probably had it for 15 years. Been through a bunch of blades and it just keeps going. Lots of guys didn't like the Taperwall much but its still my favorite. Rick Henry

I got a pair of black waxed laces with blue stripes a while back. Can't remember if it was from Hockey Giant or Hockey monkey but they were on their web page. They would look awsome on those skates. Rick- 2845 replies

I discovered the same thing with Jofa and Reebok gloves. My Reebok 5K gloves and almost exactly the same glove as the Jofa 3500 line. I bought 2 pair of Jofa from Hockey World on closeout. The Jofa 2500 is basically the same glove but nylon and it even has the four backrolls. Nice deal for $27.00. Rick Henry

Thats a nice collection of skates. How do you like the Wicked 5's? I love my Sprungs but I am considering giving the $70.00 Vanguard a try. Rick Henry .- 2845 replies

This is the skate I have decided to go with for a while. I had tried this boot with the Sprungs but didn't feel that I had time to break them in before my roller league started so I switched the Sprungs to a pair of Tacks. I'm a Tacks guy but I really do love the looks of the 99 Easton boot so I'm going to give them another try. The boot is comfortable but really stiff. Rick Henry- 2845 replies

I'm a sucker for Tacks just wish I could find some like that in a 10. I can't understand why CCM stopped making the Tacks line because they seem to have quite a following. Those are sharp and if you ever decide to sell them I bet someone here would grab them up. Rick Henry- 2845 replies
