  1. People already have the skate. Those types of threads on MSH are typically done for product that hasn't hit the market yet.
  2. Go back 25 years. CCM did it with the Vacutack.
  3. Been noticing that pictures haven't been posted. With pretty much everyone having a smartphone, it's no excuse to not.
  4. No, it isn’t. It does an adequate job. But still, it all goes back to my thoughts on it.
  5. And the old ones were CurrexSole/Footdisc.
  6. You’d need a template to measure up against. You could trace a freshly-profiled set onto a piece of paper and reference to that.
  7. I think he says he doesn't have anyone in his area who can maintain profiles. He does live in South Florida. I can see that.
  8. That's so strange. I honestly think something was lost in translation. Perhaps @CigarScott meant he wanted to send them the positives from the casting? You'd have to send the negatives so that they could pour it themselves.
  9. Wow. Always interesting talking to him at the tradeshows back in the day.
  10. @Larry54 - Jeff was referring to True here.
  11. Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time. He's gotta be in his 90s at this point. Jeff - the Incredible Edger was that machine that had a small wheel and the jig was on a ball-bearing track. Was very popular in the figure skating world. http://www.iceskateology.com/Skateology/INCREDIBLE_EDGER_Hoc.html
  12. The OTHER issue (especially on these types of skates) is the rivet size. In almost every case, the shop either replacing OEM rivets or doing an aftermarket holder swap uses the wrong size, therefore they're longer and there's internal space, allowing the rivet to get loose. Or they're not experienced enough to fit rivets and use a longer one because it's easier.
  13. When you have a carbon fiber sole, it is hard for steel rivets to stay, as they can't curl and "bite" into the material. All of the brands who have done this style of sole has had those issues - all the way back to Easton with the Synergy. CCM's inner sole is texallium. That's how they get around it - it's hard, but still softer. What I normally do when I had to replace True rivets was that I mashed them with the copper rivet point (the flat one) so that it would flatten the rivet out. Now, as far as the whole casting and orthotics situation, I find it very interesting that they couldn't make the skate from the casting, at the very least. Now, I've read that you guys have had issues using aftermarket footbeds in your skates, but I've sent that same combination of items (casting/orthotic) to other brands for customers, and they've built them from that, and built them to accommodate the orthotic.
  14. Hey guys/gals - This community is as much yours as it is mine, and so getting feedback from the community is very important to me. Now that I'm in a position to dedicate all of my resources into it, I'm open to any ideas or concerns you may have. If it's something you would like to discuss in private, by all means, send me a PM. I'll try to answer the questions as best as I can.
  15. My guess is most likely not many. Keep in mind that EQMs and players are usually slow to change. A few years ago it was only a handful of players using a dual profile of any sort. No idea how many NHL teams have a ProSharp either (I believe TOR was the first.)
  16. I'm excited for it. I just think that with the NHL participation, they really didn't embody the Olympic spirit. It was just a tournament for them. Now you get to see players you may have never seen before, or guys who retired from the NHL and have their last shot at glory.

  19. There has to be some resistance on the drag cap. Imagine it “hooking” onto the wheel and stopping once it’s formed the wheel. They should be lasting much longer than one wheel.
  20. In an environment that you're in (single user) you shouldn't see that much deviation between skates. Same goes for the pitch knob. You should be in that zone from skate to skate that you don't have to click that much. If you're not, I suggest checking how you're clamping the skate to the holder. I spring my holders to control the bolt on top of the yoke. It makes sure that the distance between the anvil and the clamp is always the same; you just put the skate on, put the clamp, and pull up. If you set it for a player skate, notch the top of the bolt. Then when you do a goal skate, you can turn it and just go by the notch. If you're in a commercial setting with multiple users using the same holder, it's not uncommon to see that. Some people clamp them tight, some loose, some don't know what they're doing, etc...
  21. As some of you know, my wife is battling breast cancer. She decided that she wanted to play hockey a couple of months ago and has been playing since last month. She wanted a pink stick, and so the fine gentlemen at Warrior did these up for her. Thanks to Keith and Doug!
  22. Most, if not all teams are using it specifically for that; to establish the first hollow.
