  1. I'm excited for it. I just think that with the NHL participation, they really didn't embody the Olympic spirit. It was just a tournament for them. Now you get to see players you may have never seen before, or guys who retired from the NHL and have their last shot at glory.

  4. There has to be some resistance on the drag cap. Imagine it “hooking” onto the wheel and stopping once it’s formed the wheel. They should be lasting much longer than one wheel.
  5. In an environment that you're in (single user) you shouldn't see that much deviation between skates. Same goes for the pitch knob. You should be in that zone from skate to skate that you don't have to click that much. If you're not, I suggest checking how you're clamping the skate to the holder. I spring my holders to control the bolt on top of the yoke. It makes sure that the distance between the anvil and the clamp is always the same; you just put the skate on, put the clamp, and pull up. If you set it for a player skate, notch the top of the bolt. Then when you do a goal skate, you can turn it and just go by the notch. If you're in a commercial setting with multiple users using the same holder, it's not uncommon to see that. Some people clamp them tight, some loose, some don't know what they're doing, etc...
  6. As some of you know, my wife is battling breast cancer. She decided that she wanted to play hockey a couple of months ago and has been playing since last month. She wanted a pink stick, and so the fine gentlemen at Warrior did these up for her. Thanks to Keith and Doug!
  7. Most, if not all teams are using it specifically for that; to establish the first hollow.
  8. I did it on a sharpener cross-grinder. Perhaps you can show your LHS this thread and how to do it.
  9. Just like anything else, if you take care of it, the rate of failure will go down. Every cracked SpeedPlate I've seen looked like I had to wear a hazmat suit to handle it. Remember, they're plastic and it traps moisture inside the skate after use. Remove them and make sure the boot is dry and you should be good.
  10. Tore my labrum during a game in 2010. Tried the USAH route. Was so frustrated, I gave up on it. It's still torn.
  11. Untrue statement. Bauer builds up an existing last with the skater's trace and measurements, if they are submitted along with the spec sheet. Unfortunately there are a lot of people who have been fitted with custom skates in which they just filled out the spec sheet and off they went. That's on the fitter's lack of knowledge, and the customer for not knowing any better. Same as every brand at this point. Now you're seeing the latest methods to fine-tune that, from all 3 skate brands. You all have been touting that this is the only custom-made skate; then explain the ones made prior to True's iPad (not laser) imaging scan - when you would trace your foot and provide 2 measurements and a length one? Were those not? 3D printing isn't at the point that it is cost-effective; in a lot of cases you're making one last. I have no doubt that it's the future; that way they can get every nook and cranny and truly make a custom skate.
  12. I never got a response. Just a pre-order link. Oh well.
  13. I blended. I didn't have to do much though.
  14. Quad Zero is 6-9-11-13'. I've been skating on it for a couple of months; actually quite surprised how I adapted to it so quickly from an 11'. I had tried a Zuperior L before that and absolutely hated that; felt way too long for me.
  15. You're slightly elevating the jig during your pass, causing it to skip. Maintain downward pressure on the jig throughout the pass.
  16. It absolutely is. It ends up being the highest profit margin in the store once the machine's paid off.
  17. https://www.beam.vt.edu/helmet/helmets_hockey.php And we have the first 5-Star helmet in the CCM FL500.
  18. A lot also depends on the cruise line and the time of year you go. I typically try to avoid base-fare 3 day cruises and cruises around Spring Break, for the aforementioned type of crowd.
  19. I love it. I'm going on my 6th one next Spring. Best part is that you can just turn off your phone and not worry about distractions.
  20. You have to grind the clips. We do it all the time in our store. I’ll take a picture of one tomorrow.
  21. Custom skates are not comfortable out of the box...they still need to be broken in.
  22. I’m on DirecTV Now because I get a $25 credit through AT&T, and since I’m an early adopter, HBO’s free. Comes out to $10 a month, and with Apple TV, I have access to the channel apps through my login. I don’t watch much TV, but E is pretty satisfied with it.
  23. The company that made it later made the yellow first down indicator as well as the strike zone box in baseball. The FoxTrax puck was their first project.
