  1. Did you take the blue piping off before the cuff extension and then cut off the wrist extension, then had blue piping sewen back on your Jofa 5066 to look like the 5044?

    Thanks

  2. I don't really know much about any current shinguards because I havn't considered replacing my jofa 6090's. . . . The guy that gave them to me said they are supposed to fit a lot like the 6090's and they definitaly do. . . the are a little tighter than my 6090's right now, but I think any pad that's brand new compared to a 10+ y/o pad is going to be tight.
  3. I normally do take off the straps along with the top extension. . . . I've never used a wrap though and thought I'd give it a try, and I actually liked it.
  4. I'm sure EQ is a new protective line. I was told the EQ-Pro is still a tester, and may only be released in europe as the pro-only protective series. here are some more pics. There's also removable calf protection. It's a hard plastic that comes out of the foam/clothe calf liner. For securing the pad to the leg, the neoprene wrap goes around the back of your calves while there is a clothe strap that goes around your knee (I took that off because I'm a tape guy)
  5. Uploaded with ImageShack.us Was given these EQ-Pro's last night, they'll be replacing my vintage Jofa - 6090's. After one use I'm already loving them. I am going to give it a few weeks to make the final decision. . . considering the 6090's are the best shin's ever. . . . it is going to be a tough decision
  6. 100/75 is more 3/8" I thought? Correct. 100/75 = 3/8 100/50 = 1/2 90/50 = 3/4
  7. Got these last March. . . custom Graf 707's. . . amazing skate and very happy with it so far.
  8. Well I finally skated with FBV last night. I normally skate on 7/8 or 15/16. The glide was improved a bit, not to noticable, but the bite I got was drastically improved, which allowed for better push offs and turning. I'm a believer. . . .
  9. For those of you in St. Louis, Johnny Mac's on watson now has FBV installed on their blackstone.
  10. It's already out. One thing I really like about it is the fact that it has a classic felt tongue. . . very nice plus in my books.
  11. What is your normal cut and what FBV cut where you skating on?
  12. Ok guys for real now is there anyone that does NOT like the way this system works? Had anyone of your customers want the old sharpening back? I want to know getting flack on another board!!! ANYONE??? I've followed this thread since inception and have yet to see one complaint. The only people have a neutral comment are those that expected more bite and didn't get it, but definitely felt more glide. No increased bite was noticed because of the deep hollow they used on traditional sharpening. What message board is saying this is a stupid idea? I'd like to read their reasoning. . .
  13. But i thought the 100/75 was equivalent to the 3/8ths. . . and 90/75 was equivalent to 5/8ths. . . . am I just really confused because its not noon yet?
  14. So would you get better glide with the 100/75 than the 90/75. . . . but the same bite? I'm a bit confused now. . . .
  15. That's what I figured. . . My buddy talks to bert, not me. . . . so he must not be getting the info right. I can't believe only steen is skating on it though, thats shocking.
  16. Hopefully soon from the blues. . . . But I guess the only guys skating on FBV right now is Alex Steen? and hes on the 3/8ths equivalent. . . I guess a few more are going to be on order soon, then we'll be trying it out. I don't know what I'm going to do after I skate on it. . . then won't be able to get it sharpened like that again. . . I guess I'll deal with that in due time. . .
  17. Looks like I'll be trying out the FBV shortly here in St. Louis. Unfortunately it looks like they only have the FBV spinner equivalent to a 3/8 for depth. Hopefully they'll order another shortly so I can push the product!
  18. actually I think the cost of getting them via ebay, if no one bids on them, is actually going to be cheaper than going custom through warrior.
  19. jesus, i'd be afraid of breaking my ankles with a 3/8's bite, i guess 5/8ths is the way to go.
  20. So if I ask for a 7/8ths. . . am I going to get the bite of a 7/8ths but the glide of a 2? or how will it work?
  21. Well thats news to me. I work for J.Mac's and had no idea. I take it we won't have it at my store since we use a blademaster. I'll see if I can get bert to do my skates. Does he actually use the FBV system or is he just using the regular spinners? Or are the regular spinners part of the FBV system? does that make any sense? The st. Louis Blues are using it. To bad they are not open to the public the equipment manager is a really good sharpener. Johnny Macs may be getting it in at some point. The Jock shop in Salmon Arm ask for kevin. I think he is a member of Mod Squad known as Canoebear.
  22. If I get a bit of cash, I just might be your man. JR you're moving to st. louis?!
  23. for someone like me who is always tinkering with my hollow, this honestly sounds like the greatest thing since sliced bread. I really hope we get it in st. louis soon, or i'm going to start sending my steel out for sharpenings.
  24. I may be seeing it the wrong way, but isn't that sort of what you want? . . . the kid ended up with sharper edges, and didn't notice much of a difference in the glide. If he had a normal hollow put into the skates with a depth to give the "sharpness" he felt with the FBV, he probably would have felt like he was skating through a swamp.
