the p26 curve is pretty close to the standard " p92 for bauer, p29 ccm and w03 for warrior" almost all level of sticks will have that curve option avalible as it is the most popular pattern in hockey. check out hockey monkey for some older models that might be on clearance, in that pattern there should be multiple options.

glad you liked the flylite as much as I do. there are some reviews on other sites that are just down right wrong with mis-information about it. one guy legit said his arms were burning from puck handling a stick that's sub 400 grams. cant comment much on the 2x pro.
-
that's the curve I use, p28 and I like it. I just prefer a softer feel as I let the stick do a lot of the work on snap shot and pass's. so when it comes to the feel I'm at a different end then you are. catching pass's you have to choke down a bit make sure it doesn't fly off. but its on par with my bauer 77 flex.

hi, I use a 75 flex in all my sticks now and to me, it feels like the flex plays true to specs. not sure if the dual kickpoints have anything to do with what you might feel. for me I would go with the 85 as I like a little more flex in my sticks, and also don't take many slap shots. hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. Have a few ideas to go off from now.

Skated on the LS5 twice before I went back to LS2. The slipping part was almost like I was on top of my steels. I think a lot of this is just not being used to it. Also being a higher steel I’m sure plays a huge role. The shop I go to does a very nice job with what I ask and tell them I’m feeling. I just want to give the LS5 another shot since I hear how great they hold up and all. LS2 edge dies quick.

jus recently got the 2Xpro skates after skating on the O'G total ones from 2010. my gawd what a difference fresh wheels feel like. the only issues I have come across is what I think is a easy fix. I used LS2 since I can remember with a 1/2" hollow profiled to the standard 9' of the steel. the LS5 I feel like I have been slipping while pushing off and going in a straight line if that makes any sense. I had them re-cut at 7/16's as I have read that will increase some added bit. I am curious if anyone has had any issues like this. new steel with a 10" radius might take some getting used to also. I have heard great things about the LS5 so I want to give them a honest run. thanks for any help.

plus one for the flylite. I left you my review on sports2k. its my fav stick hands down.

I have two flylite's and had them since mid July. Zero issues with anything so far aside from not keeping pucks out of the net. I have read some of the reports about them breaking, but honestly, with any new top end stick those reports are always around. Hope this helps.

From the 1x lite to the flylite no, they have not. One thing I notice once my gloves are starting to go is the grip on my sticks. Take a look into new gloves or redoing palms.

It’s funny. The total ones clock in at 780’s grams. No skate in the top line ccm or Bauer is under 800. My 2x pros are around 870. I think a few things come into play with tech and overall construction. The lightest skate isn’t as important as stick weights. I noticed no difference on the ice with them. If anything I felt I could dig into the turns more.

I did some research and I am realizing how much of a noob post this really is. 😑 give it to me

hey guys, got a new pair of skates for the first time in about 7 years. I have been skating on the O'G total ones. I have got great life out of them. i got the 2x pro's after the scanner recommended vapor fit. tried them on, felt good, spent the money. to my surprise I was comparing the weight to my total ones, and the 2x pro's are heavier. now I know weight isn't the end of the world but I was expecting them to be about the same, if not the vapors to be lighter. any thoughts one this? my head is telling me that the new tech will make such a difference in energy transfer and power that it wont matter much about the weight. also I have bigger steels and the boot is new vs a worn down skate. few thoughts I had. anyhow I'm excited to take them out today and start the break in process. thanks

The new STX Surgeon RX3 gear is out.
bgdawg019 replied to ParabolicActivity's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
ordered a RX3 online after a buddy of mine got one. for the price I was curious to test this out. I went to their warehouse sale a few years ago here in Baltimore and they had tons of pro stock gloves and sticks. I missed it this year but will keep a eye out next year. retail sticks priced at 75$ and pro stocks about the same. I have also been chatting through twitter and facebook about the construction of some of their pro stock sticks, as I'm always interested who is trying what...etc. they are extremely open with info and I hope that keeps up. about 2/3 years ago I was working next to a local rink and I stopped in mid day to get my skates sharpened, when STX was having a pro day and filmed a bunch of promo's with Vincent Trocheck, Trevor van Riemsdyk, and a few others. They all couldn't have been nicer and I asked Trocheck what stick he was using since it looked different then his normal one at the time ' rx2 '. He told me it was a new prototype for the RX3 build but not a final product. -
Hands on with the new Bauer Vapor Flylite
bgdawg019 replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I think it does, with a lower kick stick the overall feel will be a little stiffer. the kick point I felt was moved up just enough to really dig into the flex zone more, add in the taper and bauer really hit a homerun. like I said the release reminded me of the old school dolomites that kicked like a mule. best part about it, some sticks will flex when you catch hard pass's and such. with the vapor line I normally wont have this issue. stays true with the flylite also. -
Hands on with the new Bauer Vapor Flylite
bgdawg019 replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
from just my own standpoint and feel. I have noticed the release is about the same but the power and speed of the puck seems to feel like it jumps off the flylite better. quick background, I'm 5'10 220 I just dropped down from a 1xlite 87 flex, to that same model in a 77 flex just before I got the flylite. I have been watching some of the nhl players shoot and notice the flex they get out of their sticks, since I'm not 6'2, and I cut my sticks, I thought why not #metoo. not nearly as strong or as lean of course, but really seem to have found some jump off my shots. have to think, even In men's league games, the fast pace tends to not lend itself to loading up every snap shot. just a flick of the wrist on net at times tends to bury it past the keeper. hope this helps -
Hands on with the new Bauer Vapor Flylite
bgdawg019 replied to VegasHockey's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
no problem, I know a lot of people are curious about this. I am also very picky about my twigs and am the furthest thing from a bauer fan boy, but the 1x lite won me back since the days of the O'G total one. have since turned on two other teammates on to it. Its always hard to justify spending so much scratch on a hockey stick. but if you have the means and will to do it, this one comes highly recommended. -
Hands on with the new Bauer Vapor Flylite

got a chance to use the retail version over the weekend at a tournament. can post some quick thoughts first, the banner point of this stick is the weight, in your hands it feels light sure, but while playing is where it stands out. the balance is a key point to any stick and I found this to be as perfect as it gets for my game. I was a little concerned since they seemed to have beefed up the blade some, also the taper of the stick seems thicker. second, taking shots with the flylite is a absolute joy. one thing I didn't care much for about the 1x lite, I felt the blade would open up on some shots. this has been fixed with the thicker blade and taper they have added. shots come off consistent and hard. also, I feel as the kick point has maybe moved up some, has almost like a old dolomite feel when shots come off the stick. I was a big fan of that back in the day so it was a nice surprise. took a few hard slashes as the day went on and people had more Budweiser courage. see no issues yet, but still early on. -
Got a new Alpha QX pro model. Has 85 T8 on it. 85 being the flex bit haven't found what T8 means yet? Thanks for any help.

STX Surgeon 500 Flex: 85 Pattern: X88 Height: 5'10" Weight: 230 lb's Position: RW or LW First Impression, first, I would like to say a very big thank you to STX for letting me have a chance at a late demo, much appreciated. I must say, I was blown away by the balance and the feel off the shelf with this stick. just from holding different makes and models, this was on par with all the top lines I was messing with. I am partial to a white stick, so the colors drew me in pretty quick, I like the graphic's and the design. With the bottom part of the stick black I feel it adds a nice contrast to the eye. 9/10 Blade, This is where I have heard some negative comments about how soft the blade is, and will get over time. I have only had three ice sessions, with one being a game, and yes, the blade does play softer then most other sticks I have used. This is not a bad thing. Firstly, the puck feel is top level. No need to look down to see where the puck is on my blade, I knew just from feel. Secondly, shooting. I don't know if its just my style, or something else, but I have not had any issues hitting spots I aim for. my only concern is that I hope it lasts over time. I'm not one to be hard on my equipment, so I hope to get a long life out of her. 9/10 Shaft/Flex/Balance This is where the surgeon really shines. It might be the best flexing, and feeling shaft I have ever used. the walls are concave, but have rounded edges so it fits really nice in your hand. the puck feel from the blade vibes right with the shaft to really give you a nice feeling throughout the entire stick. No vibrations what so ever and certainly no ping feel. the balance point did take some time to get used to, as its higher then most of the sticks I have used. stick handling and receiving pass' s are a dream with the Surgeon. a very nice soft feel that stiffens up when you load for shooting. 10/10 Durability I wish to not speak on this as I have only used it in three on ice sessions. I am hoping for a 10/10 but I can update this later down the line N/A Conclusion All in all I love it so far, I would love to have waited for a longer review to include durability, but I have been so excited to use this, and giving the chance by STX, I felt I needed to get my thoughts on it as of now.

Warrior Covert DT1 Flex: 85 Curve: Chara Height: 5'10 Weight: 215 Postition: Forward Time-frame of use: three week's Aesthetics: i really like the new look warrior has gone to. gone are the days of the crazy dragon's and such. 10/10 Weight and Balance: i have always found warrior to be on the heavy side, until most recently. the dt1is very light, on par with top end bauer. the balance has always been great with warrior. this twig is no exception. very good balance, makes puck handling a joy. 10/10 Blade: stiff, stiff and more stiff. very strong and light. holds true while shooting, i take a lot of faceoff's and most of the time i can feel the blade bend if i do not win the draw clean. not this stick. only issue i had was the outer coating on the blade. i don't really know what it was, but it would keep coming off after every tape job. never hurt my shoot or anything else for that matter. just odd. 9/10 Shaft/Flex: the shaft is great, i like smaller shafts for my hands and this one fit the bill. double concave is a great feature. the flex is where the dt1 shine's. the release is lighting quick and fast. the dt1 is a low kick point stick, so i feel as the stick played stiffer then an 85 at first. it did break in once i got used to it, i tossed all my others a side. 10/10 Stickhandling and Passing: stickhandling was tough at first, puck feel is lacking a tic for me. i did adjust to it and was a very minor issue. in my first game i noticed i had to look down at the puck a few times. by next game it wasnt a problem. with a stiff blade this will happen, and i perfer it this way. passing was dead to right's accurate. no issues here. 8/10 Shooting: the best part of the dt1 was the shooting. accurate, fast and quick. you can really feel the low kick point load up and release. the blade is so stiff, the pucks just jump off. 10/10 Durability: bahh she broke after my third game. it was a decent slash but she broke right about in the middle. i would chalk it up to the slash, but i have had issue with warrior in the past. 3/10 Conclusion: all in all, this was my favorite stick i have ever took on the ice. once the replacement comes i will beat it up to test how long she will last. 60/70
