Best time at a concert!

I dislike DMB as well. They're ok in small doses but after a while his whiney annoying voice gets to you and it sounds like the same damn song over and over again. Just my opinion.

U2 was good. I saw them when they were on their Rattle & Hum tour. I saw them in New Zealand. They brought BB King (the opener) out to do a few songs with them. BB king was great to see - everyone loved him.

AS for DMB, good in small doses is how I like it. The band has great talent, just need to explore a bit more.

I agree with you there, but it is not like they are overplayed. In my opinion they are not on the radio every 5 minutes and are not on your radios regular 12 rotated songs. So how do you come in contact with his music so much that it gets old?

But I can see where you are coming from, i just think that dave is not generally pop music that gets jammed down your throats. It is more a CD band. I like Dave and his live shows! but his last few live CDs lack variety.

As far as that, I think you can almost say that with any band. All bands generally sound the same from song to song. I just really enjoy how musically talented the band is. Every live CD of theirs I listen to is different to me, just because I love listening to how each band member plays their instrument. To other people this probably sounds stupid, but I really enjoy it. And I'm not like that with just DMB, I do the same with other bands as well.

I saw White Zombie and Pantera at the Nissan Pavilion in Virginia. White Zombie opened the show then just as Pantera started their show a nasty thunder storm broke out right on cue. Watching Pantera with lightning bolts flashing all around was amazing!

I'm just glad I didn't have lawn seats.

So, what do you dislike about Dave Matthews Band, and what is your favorite band or concert experiance?

just not my style I guess.. they sound like some sort of honkey-tonk jazz silly mess to me. But it's just my opinion. Seeing them (like Chadd for free with a radio station) up on stage so intense to sound so badly.. and come on, the fiddle player, is he necissary??

their fans don't help either.. not talking about you personally. But it seems their fans are just rabid about DMB... being so rabid over something so mediocre is just odd to me.

For me greatest concets? Sheesh I don't know, I'm very similar to Chadd I've seen well over 500 in my day. Notibles include the first Lollapalooza with Living colour, Janes addicition and NIN was great. U2 on Joshua tree was great as well. INXS on listen like thieves, the Fixx was great too. While not the best show ever, seeing Beck play an accoustic set in a bagel shop with about 5 people in the "crowd" was entertaining... this was before he had a record deal.. lol. Failure at nautica was great as well.

Unless you have extremely good understanding of the musical side of things you can't respect DMB. Most people I speak to that have a great understanding of music say that the DMB drummer is one of the top drummers in music, one has to truely understand timekeeping and the musical aspect to understand though. Another thing that makes DMB so awesome is they never play the same set twice. Too many bands go out night after night playing the same set over and over, they get into a small comfort zone and never leave it. It's quite sad. DMB always changes their set and makes every live show a unique experiance. DMB has toured for the past 15 years also and sold out stadiums, arenas, amphitheatres, had a show at Central Park and Gold Gate Park, etc. So most likely they have sold more tix than anyone else's favorite band ever will.

 oh brother.. this is what I'm talking about.

Nobody is questioning their musical talent... I think the bass player is a phenominal musician, but that doesn't mean I like what he plays...

Every Gov't Mule show I've ever seen... Absolutely amazing!

Gov't Mule Rocks!! I saw them at Bonnaroo last year! Speaking of Bonnaroo, best concert festival I have ever been to! The other best concert experiance I have ever had! Along with seeing The Dead in the pouring rain was very cool!

I wouldn't mind DMB if they didn't come here every year with nothing new.

As for Bonnaroo, I helped a friend run a beer garden there and that is easily the filthiest place ever. At least they had a good line-up last year, but it's not worth the traffic being clogged around here.

I don't think DMB holds a candle to an Iron Maiden, rolling stones, U2, Metallica, etc.

You are probably right about Rolling Stones, Iron Maiden I really don't know anything about, but U2 and Metallica??? I'm not a huge fan of U2, but I don't dislike them, and Metallica I think is terrible! At least they're past few albums have been. But as far as not holding a candle to U2 or Metallica, I very much disagree! Thats just my opinion though.

JIMMY BUFFETT!!!!!!!

I hated him 3 years ago until DMBfan13 made me go to a concert at Alpine. We didnt have tickets but found a scalper with some for $30 10minutes before the show. As we were going in, we got seperated at security. When I got through I waited at the entrance.....waited.....waited. My group never came! they were sent to a different enterance. I never found them! I walked the entire concert trying to find them. I stoped for 3 songs at the most. Found them while walking back to the car....no joke!!!!!

Other than being lost and alone at a concert of a guy I hated, I had a great time and became a huge Buffett fan!!! I am obsessed now.

I could easily say the same thing about all of the guys in Dream Theater, yet I'll bet less than 50 members have ever heard them.

Best concert hands down was U2 a few years ago. This is followed by a close second of Korn and Disturbed.

Best time was at a God Smack concert in a hole in the wall in Colorado Springs.

They are avid Red Sox fans so I wore my hat and very willingly gave the single finger salute when the Yankees were brought up. The lead singer must have like my version of this as he acknowledged it on stage. :)

I'm not saying they're my favorite or anything, just that they've probably all way outsold DMB in ticket sales.. which was sniper's point.

and yes metallica has blown sinc the black album.. but before that.. good stuff.

Funny how sales go up when quality goes down, isn't it. I tend to believe that once bands hit a certain point in popularity they tend to stagnate creatively. Aerosmith, Metallica and even the Stones fit that theory. Only a handful of bands like U2 really buck the trend. What I really don't get about DMB is why they were picked to be cool. There are 20 other bands out there that play a similar style with equally talented musicians. Other than the fact Dave Matthews has such a recognizeable voice, and rarely on-key live, they're not very different from a number of other bands. Add in the fact that the dead and phish no longer tour and you have a phenomenon.

Plus they're hockey fans...I played pick-up with their drummer and had no idea who he was til some chick was like "You were sitting on the bench next to the drummer!

no band even comes close to dave matthews band, they are great on a different level, daves voice isnt winney its heavy and deep, no band sounds like them, with the sax and violin its something special every show, i went to my first concert in 2002 at the palace to see dmb and they were awesome, no shows are the same. his lyrics are amazing unlike any other, you wrong there not a cd band, they are a live band, there cds suck when compared to how they play live. Stand up will be sweet

Not a big fan of Dave and the band but thats just me. I tend to migrate towards bands that have alot of energy and cause the "conservative" folk to have a heart attack. ;)
