nike v-10 shoulders

Recommended Posts

thinking of getting some new shoulders, something low profile, with good mobility and decent protection (these are things almost everyone wants i think...), so i was wondering if the v10's are worth getting?

any good/bad experiences?

thanks.

i picked a pair up at the beginning of the year over jofas, and i love them! oh so light, and it feels as if you're wearing nothing at all. i definitely recommend them

The V-10s are good shoulders pads. I've had them since October. They have a tighter fit which I like and the protection is not bad.

Just to add a comment, if it's not too late...

I had them for one year. In that one year I separated both shoulders and partially tore my rotator cuff.

Purchased Jofa 9800's and haven't had a problem since...

Just to mention it: The V12 have been awarded the "2005 MSH Product Of The Year Award" in the category "shoulder pads".

The V10 do not differ much from the V12. I have the V12 for a couple of months now and am very satisfied with the purchase (being a physical player, too).

I don't believe any shoulder pads can stop a dislocation from happening...

The technology on the jofas purposefully disperse impact from the bones and tendons to the muscle. Makes enough sense...

Yes.

Jofa's are designed specifically to prevent separations and dislocations...

By the way, I didn't say anything about dislocating my shoulder, I said separating, which is totally different.

You SEPARATE your acromioclavicular joint. You DISLOCATE and SUBLUX your glenohumeral joint.

so for the most part (minus the fight) the v10's sound like a good investment.

Non-contact? I might recomend something that has more protection between the two shoulders for taking sticks and shots. One of the major complaints is that the v-10/12 didn't offer a lot of protection in the front chest area.

Good job citing the Jofa marketing. They call it JDP, but there is nothing special about it. That's how ALL modern pads work. It might (at best) have been something new when Jofa started building a reputation in the last millenium.

i don't know about that... i've used a set of vapor 8 shoulder pads and went ever i go hard into the boards or try to hit something i would always get the feeling that my arm wants to move up. i haven't had that problem with my new jofa pads though instead of my arm moving up it ends up hurting the side of my arm at the very most. i can see that if i went into the boards hard enough i could of ended up separating my shoulder if my arm went up high enough. also my jofa has this big plastic insert in the back that comes out a bit and can stop just about any cross check i get while my vapors was nothing more then foam padding for the spine.

There's a reason so many guys in the show use jofa. There's a reason why the company is still around, even after being brought in by THC. As you notice, Koho doesn't exactly make that much these days, while the jofa stuff is still being developed by Jofa (even though all thier gear now has a "Rbk" sticker slapped on it).
