Best Type of Palms

Recommended Posts

Don't get hairy palms. My Mom has warned me about hairy palms. I think it typically comes from playing with your stick too much, but I'll leave it up to the experts to verify.

For eagles, I'd get goatskin. Now, if you want to widen your search, I have a pair of HGTs with digital palms, and they're honestly the best gloves I've ever worn.

Beware that Eagle sometimes screws custom orders. Someone on MSH had ordered customs with split fingers and goatskin but in fact got non-split flingers and some other type of leather.

I've gotta go against all you people saying goatskin is good. The other kind of palm may not be better but after a two seasons of playing with Eagles w/goatskin, there are huge holes in my x70's.

I'm lucky if I get 6 months out of nash. My Heliums have been going strong since December.

on my current X-70's i have Nash palms but on my 1st pair (pro stock ones) had some kind of black leather palm. i dont think it was goatskin tho. anyways i got the gloves used and they had some holes in them when i got them but i used for about 5 months and no new holes formed. I think they might have been Mustang? im not sure i seen some gloves on ebay that had the same kind an i think thats what they were called.

What do you do if they do mess up the order? Im ordering them 3 months before games start for next season because i've heard of the long wiat, but I havent heard anything about the order being screwed up...

I agree, but not on personal experience. My friend bought some Eagle Fusions with Goatskin that I helped him pick out, and after a season and a half, there are a few holes in them and they are hard as a rock. It might be cuz he sweats in his hands an abnormal amount. Does anyone know if a lot of sweat will dry out goatskin palms quicker?

This all depends of how you take your stick(All the finger on your stick, or 1-2 not on it, I'm talking about top hand))(I have difficulty to write it in English, so if anyone understand, back me up.). It also depends of if you don't have all your fingers on the stick, if you don't use a wood plug, It will do holes with times. ETC...

Sorry for the English... :(

Exactly. If you put the butt end in the palm of your hand, you will wear a hole faster than if you have your palm against the side of the shaft. There are some things you can do to get the palms to last a little longer but nothing will resolve the problem entirely.

Yeah I'll back you up Kovy_R...if you keep your pinky off the butt end of the stick, you'll wear out the palms sooner than if you keep your entire hand on the end....am I right? I know that my palms wear out quickly, and have been told it is because of how I hold the stick with my left(top) hand.

Both of you back me up perfectly...

I let 1 finger not on my stick and it wears the palm sooner but I don't care because I like it better than all the fingers on the stick.

I put the very butt in, square in the plam for stickhandling and skating, but for shooting, its just like any other player. I would say a sweat alot on my body but i dont relaly notice for the shower right after the game at the rink and maybe the UA for my body but my gloves did get crusty very fast. The stench on them as well is quite odorous. ( is that even a word? )
