Eh. You know 3000x more than me about holders/setups, but to each their own, I guess. I am just probably so used to skating on them.

so shall i beieve anything this guy sez or not(puckmugger)?

If he said the sky was blue, I'd look out the window to make sure. He may be right on some things but it's not through careful examination or analytical thought.

It is the 8090 boot more than anything else - it's a traditional Bauer boot. Some of the skaters I had to correct were skating in Vapors.

I think the boot has a lot to do with it. I had to go back to the XVs for a couple games while I was getting the towers and steel fixed on my 8090s and I felt really high on my toes the whole time while going back to the XVs. I had the shop get my steel on my XV to the same height as my 8090s with the same pitch to try and minimize the differential but it still didn't do much good.

"when i got mine i first went on to the ice and i was told to skate on them for a session and then get them sharpend! but i couldn't even skate i pushed with my left foot and my right went sideways with no friction at all they didnt feel rounded off when i touched them but they skated like it lol it was so embarressing i had people in "billy blues"(rented skates) lauging at me struggling to hold on to the sides! so should i have done this or was this a stupid "wives tale" i wasd told?"

Probably the idae was that if you found that you didn't like the boot you could return them because they hadn't been sharpened.

That is concievably the stupidest thing ive ever heard, ever. If you feel the edge you would be able to tell that the coating is still on the steel that needs to be crossgrinded off, and that there was no sign of edges on the skates. Find whoever told you that and hit them with a baseball bat. If its a reputable LHS never go there again.
