Anyone else hear that Tuesday was the date for the announcement? I heard a blip on Fox sports radio this morning on my way to work but I only caught part of it.

I've just heard sometime between Canada Day which is today (Friday) and Independence Day ( Monday). Anyway it looks the like the dealer is really close to done and the NHLPA lost bigtime.

I don't mean a vague guess, this was very specific.

Do you by any chance have the link to where you saw it on TSN?

I haven't heard an exact date...but it is expected pretty much anytime next week, and as previoiusly stated...the rules and new NHL logo will probably aloso be unveiled at that time.

[EDIT] I think I heard that the draft lottery is also expected at the same Press Conference.

the detroit news said that in all likely hood the nhl will allow players t ogo to iltaly in feb 06. because the big one will be 2010 in vancouver. they hope to get better NA marketing in 2010 and that starts with the 06 games.

I've also heard no all-star game because of the Olympics in '06

It's done. Heard it today on the radio, both on the Fan 590 and Z103.5 (for those in the GTA). Deal in principle, $37 cap, not including benefits, etc.. Voting Monday I believe. Nothing on TSN yet, but I get the impression this is "breaking news"

reports in detroit (wdfn 1130) say the L.A. times is reporting the deal is done in princapal. the NHLPA wil vote on monday with an offical ancouncemt within 2weeks. both the union and the nhl have denied this "rumor". the detroit news is reporting the cap would be in hte range of 36-40 million.

the coaching changes have started.

paul maurice is now coaching the hamilton ahl club of hte leafs.

detroit is rumored to be talking with mike babcock. babcock has turned down hte offer from the ducks.

And the NHL and NHLPA have both said ther LA Times story is inaccurate, as reported by several outlets. The Hawks are supposedly hiring Yawney as coach tomorrow as well.

The Hawks signing Yawney was what was reported all Canada's major sports stations aswell. I heard a radio interview with Scott Walker and he said even if they agree to a deal in principal he could very well see the players vote going against the proposed deal. So a deal might not be quite as close as it appears.
