twistoffate19 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2005 For the first time in my life I went shooting with my buddies and his dad. We only used one 9mm, and a .45 Handgun, but still it was awesome. I want to be a cop, so I'll have to be good with a gun (hopefully won't have to use it). I surprised myself, by being extremely accurate with the .45 . I sucked with the 9mm. Just thought I'd share, cuz it was one of the best things I've done this year. So fun!!!

Chadd 916 Report post Posted July 3, 2005 You don't have to be that good to be a cop. I remember when dad got his old S&W 5906 and a couple instructors were setting up at the range for night qualifying. He asked them why his groupings were off and his were tighter than their attpempts.

I can't tell you how many people make it to week 23 and still can't pass the training.Marksmanship and fighting with a gun are two different things.

I watched some of the qualifying that night and they got to keep repeating the test until they passed. One guy had to re-do his session 8 times before we left. biff44 0 Report post Posted July 4, 2005 Some cops prefer the "spray and pray" technique. My favorite, btw, is a Taurus .454 Casual revolver. I use it for black bear hunting.

Wow, we give them two tries. On fail they remediate and then try again. If they fail again they lose their gun. They have to take a requalifiying class after which they start over. You guys do have a license for THOSE weapons? Here they are forbidden as hell, if they catch you with one of those they bring you to jail and eat the key!Pretty good machinegun anyway, and it was built in 1942!Pratically it's the same as the germans used during ww2 (exept for a liitle modification for the one of the italian army), if i remember well it has a rate of fire 1600 round per minute (1200 for the modificated one)! I have no idea what the regulations are here, that's just what I saw. to own fully automatic weapons you need t ohave a classIII FFL (federal firearms licese). they are very diffacult to get. once you have one you can get anyting in full auto. There were a couple guys from NJ who used to drive to the one range near where I grew up because it was the only place they could let fly with their full autos. I tried out an MP5 the one time they were there.
