I think Jr and Chadd are right, Crosby needs to go to a big city so that NHL can take a hit from the income. Not only that but LA and NY weren't the best teams in 04'. I remember a beer comercial a year or two ago about a Japanese sumo guy in the net stoping everything, maybe one of them will go fist eh'?

Let's go for the 400th post here....anyways...

I say Crosby to Atlanta. Kovalchuk/Crosby/Heatley all on one line; that would be completely nuts. I agree with whoever said that Crosby'll take unnecessary attention in a Canadian team (I'm Canadian btw). I really wish that he doesn't end up in NY (either teams) OR NJ. However, if Crosby goes to my Sens......

I would want Crosby in the Western Conference, so that the Stanley Cup Finals could have, for example, a young Blue Jackets / Sharks team against a young Thrashers team, each with 2 good scoring lines. It's too bad we never saw Gretzky vs Lemieux in a finals.

In NY: the pressure on him would be tremendous, and the NY teams aren't currently up-and-coming so there might be too much losing.

On the Sens: Crosby - Hossa - Alfreddson - Spezza on the first 2 lines would be powerful.

I think he'd be more beneficial to the league in LA, NYR isn't a bad spot, but I think LA could use him better to promote the game. It seems stupid that they would have both him and Gretzky (if for nothing else that hype). I know Gretz was in NYR, but he wasn't the same there as in LA.

If Bill Wirtz would show any willingness to surround Crosby with other talent, Chicago would be agreat place for him. Major market and a good hockey town for a long time, now they just go to Wolves games and not Hawks games. He could revitalize the town, and still be in a large enough market to be convenient for marketing puposes. Not to mention the Bulls aren't that good and the bears have sucked since Ditka left. Hell, these people support the cubs.

If anybody heard Gretz's interview on sportsnet it seems pretty likely that he's going to coach Pheonix. It'd be interesting to see Crosby being coached by Gretzky. Still, I'm hoping he goes to the Sens.

Idea #2...............

Clemens or Johnson on the mound firing heaters......speed gun shows speed in mid 90's after each one..........pitching coach calls for new kid...........(insert marketable hockey player here) on the mound in full gear............fires a slapper down the pipe into the catcher's mitt...........gun shows higher speed than pitcher.......a couple more quick ones.........cut to lockerroom, real pitcher getting dropped by coach...........

looks good in my head.........

How about a goalie version of that...you see the pitcher (but not the plate) firing fast ball after fastball after fastball...and gettign discouraged.

Then switch the shot and instead of a catcher, it's a goolie...with the net behind him...and he's saving/kicking away every throw.

Sit the catcher and bring in a goalie to catch Tim Wakefield

Yeah...10pm start times...and the West barely travels to the East. That'll go over real well.

Or Zito, when his curveball was impossible to hit

Doesn't quite work with a 60 mile an hour knuckleball.

He definitely needs to be in the East so his highlights can hit the 11pm SportsCenter and he's playing primetime on national games.

It does if the cather can't hang on to them. A pitcher never tries to throw it past his own cather but a knuckleball pitcher has no idea exactly where the ball is going to end up. Try catching a guy who throws a knuckleball or a curve that drops off the table, it's much harder than catching a guy who puts it exactly where you expect it. You end up blocking as much as catching.

Here's your goalie ad:

Tiger Wood's hitting ball after ball off of a practice tee with his driver. The camera is just on him. Every couple of balls rolls back near his feet. Finally, the camera pans around behind Tiger on the tee and out in front of him is a goalie in full pads. There are a ton of balls between him and Tiger. Tiger crushes another ball and the goalie snares it in his glove, then lifts his mask and says "Thanks Tiger, I should be ready for (fill in player name here) tonight."

Here's the hitting ad.

Football game. QB takes the snap, looks downfield, fires a strike to the middle of the field. Receiver goes to make the catch and as soon as the ball touches his fingers you see Stevens in full gear step up with a crushing shoulder check that separates the receiver from the ball and sends him flying.

Wow...you really are a good thinker with these commercials :o

Another ad would have to show the hitting. Maybe cutting between DB's nailing receivers and defensemen nailing forwards.

A comparison would work best, a quick highlight of a football play and a similar hockey hit.

Trust me, catching Wakefield just won't work. You don't want to make the point a goalie can stop a wobbly slow moving baseball.

Depends on what you're trying to show, agility and movement or standing still and catching a ball. The key is to have them knocking down the balls bouncing in the dirt.

But if you want something with goalies, you want it to be something moving at high speed.

I know Stevens in the leagues bigger hitter...but maybe you find someone a little younger to use. I don't know if you want to use a guy who's only got 1-2 more years in him as the marketing tool do you?

Great idea though. Are you in school for/or do you work in marketing????

Goalie ad #2.............

A kid is sitting at the dinner table. Asks someone at the other end to pass him a biscuit. His brother at the other end tosses one. As it's in the air you suddenly see a goalie catching glove flash out and snare the biscuit and drops it. Camera follows the biscuit dropping and shows a plate covered with biscuits. Then, pans over and it's Brodeur, reading the paper that's in his other hand, not even looking at the table.

Nope, just an average genius.
