Mission L7 Skates

Recommended Posts

Has anyone had a chance to try a pair out on the ice? I am leaning towards purchasing a pair sometime this week, but I have had a few people tell me that mission skates are crap.

Currently I have a pair of XX's, and my skates before them were Mission Flywieghts. I liked the mission but I am wondering if the quality has gone down recently.

Any input would be great.

I have never heard of anybody around here who has tried these out, Havent seen them at my LHS either. Personally i dont like mission skates because i find the blades break out fall out alot.

Were your XX's '04 or '05 model? Do you like them? Good quality?

Ouch, the blades are why I am moving on from my XX's. I got them a year ago march, so 2004 model. My right skate blade bends almost everytime I step on the ice. I am getting tired of sticking more and more money into them.

Is this just recently with the mission blades, because I skated a year in the Flyweights and never had a problem, except i bought them online and they were a whole size to big. Killed my feet.

The XX's are very comfortable, but I have had nothing but problems with the blades.

Well i was looking at a pair of XX's but i dont know. I could buy a pair of XX for 280 or XXX for 350. What do you think?

Mission is the way to go. I am currently in mission s500's and they are the best skates Ive ever had. Before missions i had bauer xv's and they were constantly hurting my feet. I tryed everything from laceing variations to diffrent insoles. Missions are very comfortable and the pitch system is great. As for the steel breaking, I've never had them break on me. The xv steel did break on me twice tho. Also i think JR has l7's he might know more about them.

I've sold a couple pair of L5s and the kids haven't reported any problems with them yet.

Yes, I tested L7 - I have the model before the final product. Very roomy, light, but just a little too tall for me.

I found the heel to be very tight. I can wear a D for the heel in the S series but the L series heel hurt like hell.

JR i think you had s500's too didnt you? So how do the L7's compare to the s500's in stiffness of the boot? And so do you think the model u got in the L7's is wider than the retail models?

Two totally different skates. L7 is more traditional than the S500. That is the skate they are using to compete against the XXX and Vector Pro.

The L7 is much more stiffer than the 500.

Apparantly you havent used a pair of mission skates without the drive-shaft holders.

I've only had the missions when they like first came out. None of the newer pairs. Thats where my opinion comes from.

i.e. 6 years ago....Things change...We now have the most well built holder on the market...Our steel is the strongest and holds an edge longer....

I hear this alot when I recommend Mission skates to people. Unfortunately you guys got a bad rep early on with the probs with the holders.

Typical response...'nice skates but the blades break.'

I just people would educate themselves before making ignorant statements because Mission skates are top notch IMO.

So is there any chance that your holders will ever come out in 320's. And maybe release the L7's and S500's in a size 14 and 15?

I've gone through that explaination a couple dozen times this month. As long as you give good information, most people will actually listen and give them a shot.

How does the fit of the L series skate compare to the S series skate in terms of depth, arch, etc.?

Thanks in advance.
