Disney no longer owns the team. The new owners have already said they are open to changing the logo/name if fans want to. I would be fine with just Ducks, and using their third jesrey as their main one.

I don't mind the name, I don't know much about the golden seals, but i guess that's because i've been a ducks fan all my life. i think the anaheim ducks would be better than the mighty ducks considering its the exact same name as the disney movie.

I called last nite that Niedermayer would have narrowed it down to San Jose or New Jersey, and my local radio station reported exactly that this morning. Half an hour later, they announced that he'd signed with the Ducks. How disappointing.

On the Disney/Name issue, I'd love to see the team renamed to anything that doesn't involve ducks, and change their logo and colours. I don't know how Fedorov and his teammates put on that ridiculous jersey every game. If I were an NHLer, I wouldn't want to go to Anahiem just because of the jersey/name. Naming a team after a goddamn movie was just about the dumbest idea in hockey, ever. That and the instigator.

EDIT: It was that stupid jersey that prevented me from getting a Kariya jersey all these years, until he moved to Colorado. However, since he's now shown that he's something akin to a 3rd line winger with world-class skills, I don't want his jersey anymore. Thanks a lot, you effing bastard Gary Suter.

Here's hoping he regains his world-class form with whichever team he signs with.

That's what I was thinking. All my Devils fan friends spent the day trying to talk me out of it. Martin, Rafalski, Brown, McGillis, Malakov, White. That means chances are, unless they make an all-pylon pairing, you'll have at least one pylon out there at a time. If the game is called like it's supposed to be you sure won't see brodeur having many of those 2-3 shot periods he's used to.

With Elias out for a while to start the season they may have issues scoring as well.

Best case scenario is Kozlov doesn't suck and Parise becomes decent. Then they have 4-5 good forwards till Elias comes back. I still think though that the EGG line did so well because it had Elias on it.

I think the Devils will still make the playoffs, just because they have Brodeur. Hell, they'll probably contend too - everyone seems to forget about the Devils when talking about contenders (at least in the past) like Colorado, Dallas, Philly, Ottawa, but Jersey always seems to sneak under the radar.

Because the devils could play defense like the cowboy kid in the mighty ducks. They just tied you up and nobody would call anything. Now they have below average defensemen playing in the 'new' nhl. Brodeur's GAA will go up a good amount this year.

Well, it was there or Vancouver (NJ is a sinking ship). I'd rather take the same money to play with my brother, than a team that is good but can never get over the hump.

NJ is defenitly not a sinking ship. But the ducks will not be a playoff contender and wont be for a long while.

How is NJ not? Three good forwards unless Elias can come back healthy, one good defenseman and paul martin.

The way New Jersey drafts they can never be a sinking ship and Lamarillo is one of the best gm's in the league.
