Pittsburg in the market for a tough guy?

Recommended Posts

With youngster sydney crosby, old men in mario and recci, and a rumor that pittsburg gave a big offer to tie domi, wouldn't it be reasonable that pittsburg is looking for someone to protect thier investments? So, who exactly is a free agent that they could get? Is darius kaspuritus still playing?

On a lighter note, I think they should bring back Ulfie :P .

As long as the other guy is 5-9 and looking the other way.

Malone will throw the body around, Ryan VandenBussche is still on the team. It won't all be on Roy

The Pens were this close to adding Tie Domi to the roster.

From an article in the Pittsburgh Tribune Review....

The Penguins offered Domi a three-year, $4.5 million deal even after inking Roy, and Domi's decision came down to playing for buddy Mario Lemieux or the team for which he's played since 1994 .

"The only difficult thing was I had to call my friend Mario, and I didn't have to say anything," Domi said. "He just said, 'They talked you out of it, didn't they?' He was right."

The Penguins did not sign Roy in place of Domi, but they rather wanted both.

"(On Wednesday night Lemieux) ended up getting another tough guy for me like I have (in Toronto) in Wade Belak, and they were all set and had everything ready to roll," Domi said. "(Thursday morning), I pretty much was going to Pittsburgh. I really was. My heart made me make the decision to stay in the city I grew up in and love."

So, just how close was Domi to joining the Penguins?

"I think I surprised everybody close to me because they all thought I was on my way to Pittsburgh -- my wife, kids, Mario -- and that is how close it came," he said.

Pittsburgh signed Andre Roy on the 4th, a day before you started this thread. Sorry.

Not to mention that neither Kasparaitis or Ulfie are fighters.

I forgot about something else the penguins have, if people start riding Crosby hard (which I don't see happening), Mike Sgroi could always be called up.

Speaking of Samuelsson, he is an assistant with the NYR farm club. I like the move

Theo,Samuelsson also coached at hockechamp14's school if you didnt know that.I would love to see him play he was my favorite player when I was younger.
