the thorax is foam and i think some plastic inserts on a shirt. people use it as their replacement for shoulder pads in roller and maybe ice. i know poeple use those for paintballs as well.

The throax is a girdle as well this year...Similar to how the shirt is a replacement for shoulder pads, the thorax girdle is a replacement for traditional girdles. Nothing even comes close to the thorax girdle...I hated wearing girdles...This is the first one, that feels like nothing is even on.

Shute, yes it has plastic on the hip pads and tailbone. The plastic is made to be removed easily for the player who desires that.

Force Breakaway Is a nice girdle, I like mine, very light and fits really well.

I would just buy any old close out girdle, and take some of the padding out.

If you want real light and low amount of padding, go with a Bauer referee girdle. That's what I used to wear for roller.

I've just got the CCM Externo (blue and black one).

I had the franklin before, which had excellent padding but was just too heavy.

The CCM offers a good level of protection but light weight and also has a pocket in the groin to put a cup if you want to.
