Datsyuk is back with the Wings!

Recommended Posts

They must be giving him a big raise. Omsk and Dynamo offered him 6 million plus he doesn't have to pay taxes and gets to play in his home country. I guess it's just not the same as the NHL.

I guess freezing your ass of in some low rent bus and staying in crappy hotels to play in front of 10,000 people in the middle of nowhere just aint' the same as flying first class on a private jet and eating food that won't cause HepA (Elias) is worth it!

I'm guessing that he just did that to scare detroit.. but I might be wrong. Im not datsyuk. But also it could be the reason that arbitration was schedueled for tomorrow.

I'm surprised by the news... More money, home country, family AND FAR FEWER GAMES to play! In Russia they play nowhere near the 87 regular season games (+playoffs).

I sure don't envy the NHL stars in this respect - playing every other day on average (sometimes EVERY DAY), constant traveling around a huge country, make that 2 huge countries (US and Canada). I think here lies another reason for "boredom in the NHL" - it's not just the interference, rules, etc... it is also MENTAL EXHAUSTION of the players.

Once agian if we compare this to hugely succesefull (marketing and excitement wise;)) European soccer leagues (Where teams play 2 games a week at most) ... ... ... ... ;)

Guy, you dont know about what you speak. I live here in Russia, and each hockey player wishes to leave in NHL. Btw, this country is more than Canada and USA together. Datsyuk makes a good choice, if that is true..

I stand by my words... I'm sure that "each russian hockey player who wishes to leave in NHL" really dreams to make the {former, pre lockout} NHL kind of money. And the best proven way to do that is to make a name for yourself in the NHL. After that... what I've said above applies :)

" Btw, this country is more than Canada and USA together." almost half of it is deserted:) and my biggest point was that the schedule of the RHL is NOWHERE NEAR as grueling as NHL's... RHL's 6 mil are easy money in comparison.

"Datsyuk makes a good choice, if that is true.."- I'd rather see him on the Olympic team:)

But... I love RW club, their style of play (hopefully it won't change too much now that the Bowman's era is over) and Datsyuk did fit that club oh so well. Good luck to him!

it's more then just MONEY even though he is a russian and we all know how they are about their money. ;) it's also a quality of life and plus he'll have a much bigger chance of getting advertising dollars. being with a nhl team is much better then being with a russian team in terms of quality of life from what i hear. it'll be like someone paying me twice what i make right now to work in china (and i don't mean hong kong). it might be fun for a few months but i sure as hell wouldn't want to stay there... what would i even do with my money there... :( even hookers every night won't come close to spending any real cash there.

It'll be interesting to see how the players in the room accept him. I've heard rumblings the guys aren't too happy. Also it's been said the only reason he is coming back is because he cannot get on the Russian team he wants.

They're a team, they may resent each other, but most guys don't get far in the NHL if they can't be a member of a team.

no way,a NHL teams are never pushing all in the same way, Just look at the canadiens, there is the Koivu-Rivet-Souray group and the Ribeiro-Dagenais-Theodore group, it's probobly like this in every teams

Most teams have them, but it doesn't always hold them up and it doesn't mean they can't get along. Sometimes it splits a team *cough* Corson *cough* Leeman *cough*, but other times it doesn't. Kovy thats the first time I've heard of a division in the Habs room, doesn't surprise me, but obviously it isn't a huge problem.

The thing with Datsyuk, is he still doesn't want to be there. He still, last I read, isn't signed and is only coming over because the Russian team he wants to play for can't have him. The Redwings still spent money on Zetts, money some players felt Holland was forced into spending, and they aren't really happy about it.

Moscow IS a great place to live (if you're russian and have money), just ask Pav Bure;)

Also I don't understand why teammates should go against a player who holds out for more money... they've ALL being holding out for year jk

But I don;t think much of this "loyalty over money" stuff should be expected from anybody but the most iconic franchise players - Yzerman, Sakic, etc Don't know... Don't really care to be honest

Do you guys think St. Louis was happy being the NHL's leading in points, only to be shafted in money to Vinny Lecalvier?

Lecavalier's been consistent, St. Louis' just has a spark the past year or two....

Consistently ok, never that good. 78 is his highest season point total.

Nope, it also puts the lightning in a bad situation now, as even though St. Louis re-signed for less, Richards is also forced to do so and I believe he is the best of the 3 players. Vinny's signing is likely to cost the team alot in the future because Richards will either be gone, or those 3 will take up roughly 40% of the payroll.

Yes, I do agree with you, but my point was more towards that St. Louis wasn't whining about his teammate getting a ton of money. He's a professional and is going to deal with it. :)

Last I heard, it caused a bit of a rift. Everyone knows it has the potential to tear apart the team. It's been quiet since the Team Canada training camp, but it was an issue then. They obviously won't come out and say it was a problem, but everyone knows it has made life much more difficult. Without a game being played yet, its hard to see if it has an impact or not, but I can definately see it causing a rift in the room.

i know there was something going on with the oilers when comrie was still with them.. i was told that he was screwing with salo's wife and it added to part of salo's downfall. on top of that jason smith once punched him in the face and said that he never wanted to play with comrie again.
